Auto Car | TVR Sagaris | The Sagaris is powered by a 4.0-liter unit, delivering 400 horsepower. Considering that the car body is made from the carbon fiber, it is sensationally fast and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60 mph) in under 4 seconds. Engine is coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The Sagaris has masses of grip. Steering is sharp and informative. The ride is firm, but it is well controlled. It is worth mentioning that TVR relies on a well set-up chassis rather than electronic driving aids to keep you out of trouble, so the Sagaris comes with no modern safety features at all. This car is intended for a dedicated and experienced driver.
A fair amount of wind noise protrudes inside the cabin. Furthermore big tyres also kick up some road noise. Engine noise is constantly present, but it is rather pleasent and do not makes you feel uncomfortable.
The TVR Sagaris is affordable comparing with other supercars, but such power do not comes cheap. You must have a deep pocket to run it. The TVR production numbers are small and servicing might hit you hard. The Sagaris is also thirsty on fuel with an average consumption of more than 15 l/100 km. Reliability has been TVR's weak point in the past, but things have got much better.
Interior is well put together from a quality materials and is nice to look at. Unfortunately car's interior has only got the basics, but nothing more.
The driver's seat has no height adjustment, however most of the drivers will find it comfortable. Visibility isn't great, but at least it is not worse than on an average supercar.
There is plenty of space inside the cabin for a supercar. The Sagaris boasts ample head- and legroom. The boot is also big enough to take a couple of bags.
Unfortunately the TVR ignores all the safety equipment and electronic driving aids to bridle an awesome power of the Sagaris. It comes with no airbags, traction or stability control at all. Anti-lock brakes with vented discs, a couple of seatbelts and a leather-bonded roll cage are the only safety measures. Security list has got only an alarm and an immobilizer, but it is obviously not enough for a car with such price tag.
Standard equipment fitted is only basic. The Sagaris comes with an electric windows, leather seats and a CD player, but that's it. Air conditioning and a satellite navigation are available as an expensive options.
Production of the TVR Sagaris still continues.
