Honda EV-N Concept Battery Electric Vehicle at Tokyo Motor Show 2009

Cars Mania Blog
Auto Car | Honda EV-N Concept Battery Electric Vehicle at Tokyo Motor Show 2009 | The Honda EV-N Concept is a small, 4-seater battery electric vehicle, inspired by the N360, Honda’s 360cc micro car launched in the 1960s. The Honda EV-N Concept car features solar panels in the roof, which could be used to charge the on-board battery.

Honda has a small yet smiling competitor in the up-coming battle of electric cars, which is meant to meet the world at the Tokyo Motor Show next moth. Meet the EV-N, an all electric mini that looks nice even if somewhat simplistic.

While those familiar with European models may see a pinch of Autobianchi A112 and bit of Fiat 500 (the new one) in the EV-N, fact is thatHonda ’s inspiration for the styling came from its own N360, a tiny city car of the late 1960s that was powered by a motorcycle-based, 354cc, air-cooled 2-cylinder engine producing 31HP. We are all anxious to find out how many hp this newHonda dwarf will muster.

Along with the CR-Z Hybrid Sports Coupe, the Honda EV-N concept will have it’s debut as a small eco car at the Tokyo Motor show, and Honda want that to be a surprise. That’s because few details have been released up to now. The cool thing about this mini is that it will be four-seated. Yes, that’s right, you can actually fit your family in this one. Unless you eat at McDonald’s that is…

The battery-powered concept mini car will be powered by an electric motor and lithium-ion battery that takes some of it’s energy from a solar panel on the roof of the car. Daring concept I’d say.
