Brabus smart fortwo Ultimate High Voltage

Auto Car | Brabus smart fortwo Ultimate High Voltage | Brabus shows what happens when performance tuners tackle underpowered urban cars.  The Brabus Ultimate R is a turbocharged, 112 horsepower version of the Smart ForTwo.

The three-cylinder OEM engine that comes on the car is also tuned to push out up to 150 Nm of torque, which helps the car reach a new 0-100 km/h in a more respectable 9.5 seconds.  Top speed is now limited to 170 km/h (106 mph), but the thought of driving a Smart Car at that speed is frightening, to say the least.  Other performance upgrades include a new sport suspension, which lowers the car by 30 mm, and more rigid shocks.

Making the Smart look more, well, smart, Brabus added carbon fiber elements inside and out, while giving the vehicle a gun metal gray paint job.  Blacked-out double-spoke wheels are wider in back than in the front, and wrapped in high performance tires.  An aluminum-tipped stainless-steel dual-exhaust from Brabus is also included.  Alcantara-lined sport seats are an interesting addition to a car that is supposed to be for the budget conscious.

Currently on display in Frankfurt, the Brabus Ultimate R has an automatic transmission that also allows a degree of input through the paddle shifters mounted to the new racing wheel.  Sitting inside, you will also find a navigation system, radio, and climate control.
The two-seater will be sold as either a coupe or convertible.  The question is, "Is this something people will buy?"  Have your say in the comments section below.

Brabus smart fortwo

Auto Car | Brabus smart fortwo | Ultimate RThe ULTIMATE R delivers the kind of performance that its racing looks promise: The tuned smart engine produces 112 hp (110 bhp) / 82.4 kW at 5,750 rpm. Just as impressive is the peak torque of 150 Nm (111 lb-ft), available on a plateau between 3,300 and 3,900 rpm. Shift times of the transmission in the BRABUS special model are shorter than in the production car. Gears can be shifted either automatically or with Formula One-type shift paddles on the ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel with a diameter of just 32 centimeters (12.6 inches).

The performance figures of the little speedster promise tons of driving fun: The ULTIMATE R zooms from rest to 60 km/h (37 mph) in just 3.9 seconds and reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) after just 9.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 170 km/h (106 mph).
The stainless-steel BRABUS sport exhaust system with dual cast aluminum tailpipe optimizes power yield and gives the two-seater a very sporty exhaust note.
The appearance of the two-seater can best be described as unadulterated racing looks. Clear-coated carbon-fiber is a striking complement to the special metallic paint. The high-tech material can be found on the lower part of the B-pillar, the front spoiler with its additional flaps, on the rocker panels and the rear diffuser.

Wider fenders offer space for a tire/wheel combination that must be considered generously dimensioned for a smart. Black-painted BRABUS Monoblock VI double-spoke wheels are mounted on the front axle in size 7Jx18 with size 205/35 R 18 high-performance tires. On the rear axle size 8.5Jx18 wheels with size 235/30 R 18 tires provide maximum traction.
The height-adjustable BRABUS coil-over sport suspension lowers the ride height of the ULTIMATE R by some 30 millimeters (1.2 inches). Firmer gas-pressure shocks further contribute to the car’s agile handling with great safety reserves.

The interior of the high-end subcompact car also exudes racing ambiance. Strongly contoured sport seats upholstered with nonslip grey Alcantara provide plenty lateral support during fast cornering. The beautiful material is delicately finished by the BRABUS upholsterers with shining red seams and can also be found on the dashboard and both doors.
Carbon fiber applications add further sporty highlights. The high-tech material is used on the speedometer, tach, clock, instrument bezels, turn-signal stalk and door handles. Stainless-steel pedals with rubber pads and aluminum shifter and emergency brake lever are the perfect complements.

Brabus smart fortwo

Auto Car | Brabus smart fortwo | Brabus will sell you a variety of 600-plus-hp twin-turbo V-12s wrapped in virtually any Mercedes-Benz product, including the G-class military-grade SUV and the Rocket, a CLS that's electronically limited to 217 mph.
Or Brabus will sell you an itty-bitty Smart Fortwo packing a whopping 98 horsepower that will go nowhere near 217 mph unless you shoot it out of a big cannon, which its shape suggests it might be good for. No, the Brabus Smart Fortwo will instead be limited to 96 mph, a loosening of the leash to the tune of 6 mph over the base Fortwo. Zero-to-60 mph should take about 9.9 seconds, the time it takes a Brabus Rocket to reach double that speed.

Inside and out, the Brabus Fortwo is changed little from the original Smart design. Wider rear wheel arches that house unique wheels, a sport exhaust—to really let that 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder rip—foglights, and a 15mm-lower suspension are it for the exterior; a specialized shift knob, hand-brake lever, and pedals round out the interior alterations.
Buyers opting for the Brabus Fortwo Xclusive get an additional front spoiler and tinted headlights, and they will sit in heated leather seats amid a tiny sea—perhaps pond is a better word—of fake leather trim on the door panels and dash, protected by the standard head-and-thorax side-impact airbags that are an option on lesser Fortwos. Checking the Xclusive box on that order sheet will limit color choices to all black or all silver, instead of the Fortwo's usual body-panel and exoskeleton two-tone paint.

Like the base Smart Fortwo, these Brabus Smarts will probably make their way stateside shortly after appearing in Europe this fall. Pricing will be announced this summer.

Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG

Auto Car | Brabus Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG | The worlds most extensive high-performance tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles comes from BRABUS (Brabus-Allee, D-46240 Bottrop, phone + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777-0, fax + 49 / (0) 2041 / 777 111, Internet BRABUS). High performance made by BRABUS is now also available for the new C 63 AMG. The BRABUS B63 S performance kit adds a whopping 73 hp (72 bhp) / 53.7 kW to the rated power output of the 6.2-liter V8 engine, and propels the car to a new top speed of 315 km/h (197 mph). In addition, BRABUS offers a wide range of exclusive accessories from a limited-slip rear differential to custom-tailored 19-inch wheels complete with corresponding high-performance tires, from a height-adjustable coil-over suspension and generously dimensioned high-performance brakes to exclusive interior options.

The BRABUS engine specialists have developed the B63 S performance kit specifically for the fast-revving engine of the Mercedes C 63 AMG. It consists of free-flow high-performance metal catalysts, sport air filters and newly programmed engine electronics with custom mapping for ignition and injection. Together these components result in an increase in power output from 457 hp (450 bhp) / 336 kW to 530 hp (523 bhp) / 390 kW. Peak torque grows from 600 Nm to 650 Nm (442 to 479 lb-ft).

Also part of the conversion is the BRABUS Vmax unit, available in two versions for top speeds of 300 or 315 km/h (188 or 197 mph). Acceleration performance also improves with the added power: The sprint from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 seconds; 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after 13.1 seconds, down from 14.5 seconds for the production car.

Brabus Widestar Mercedes-Benz GLK

Auto Car | Brabus Widestar Mercedes-Benz GLK | There was absolutely no doubt in the mind of Professor Bodo Buschmann, President of Mercedes customization specialist BRABUS, “Even in the face of the extreme rework that characterizes the vehicles at SEMA, we were going to stick firmly to our principles and go for a more practicable solution. Our GLKWidestar grabs attention with its stunning appearance, while at the same time, offering a high degree of everyday usability in all conditions.” And thus, it is fair to say that, among the four tuning competitors, the GLKWidestar represents the “European” solution. The SUV was conceived by development engineers on the basis of automotive pragmatism that stands by classic Mercedes-Benz characteristics. The Widestar is an interpretation of the GLKas an on-road machine with corner-hugging agility that also pays tribute to the high levels of refinement associated with Mercedes vehicles.

That doesn’t mean that the BRABUS GLK is merely a “good boy” among the SEMA stars. Far from it – one look is all it takes to capture the muscular stance of the Widestar bodyshell, which has been broadened by 50mm, incorporating beautifully integrated flared wheel arches that carry through to the front of the vehicle with distinctive air intake fins. Customised front and rear bumpers, LED daytime running lights, side skirts, a roof spoiler with LED lights (position lights) and all-new LED lighting units above the front windshield complete the reworked bodyshell. A custom paint process adds an unparalleled depth of lustre to the black paint finish. “It was an interesting challenge,” comments Ulrich Gauffrés, Head of Research and Development at BRABUS, “to bring even more fascination to the already distinctive GLK. Our Widestar underscores the characteristic edge of the original GLK-Class design.”

The flared wheel arches are home to 21 inch wheels clad in 295/30 ZR 21 rubber. Together with the BRABUS chassis kit that lowers ride height by 30 mm, and a high-performance brake system, the Widestar demonstrates the true on-road potential of the GLK-Class. The necessary propulsion is provided courtesy of a reworked V6 diesel engine based on the 320 BlueTEC unit with ground-breaking AdBlue technology from other models currently available in the USA. Thanks to the ECOPowerXtra tuning kit, the Widestar engine generates 190 kW/258 hp and delivers 610 Nm of torque. All of this comes together to provide outstanding performance figures. The dash from 0-100 km/h is over in 6.9 seconds and the Widestar powers on to reach a top speed of 240 km/h. Despite the increase in performance, the Widestar remains well within the most stringent emissions standards set in Europe (EU5) and the U.S.(BIN 5 / ULEV). At an average of 8.4 litres per 100 km (NEDC), fuel consumption is also extremely modest*.

The completely reworked interior of the BRABUS GLK Widestar celebrates the very highest levels of automotive interior design. Artisans at the BRABUS workshop have clad the cabin with a total of 50 square metres of soft, semi-aniline leather. The luxurious all-leather trim also includes diagonal stitching on the seating, door panels and the entire vehicle floor – all in cognac. To avoid glare in the windshield and side windows, the upper surfaces of the dashboard and door panels are finished in black leather. The alcantara upholstery of the roof lining is also finished in black, with piano black wood trim, a sports steering wheel and aluminium sports pedals completing the overall impact of the interior. Should rear seat passengers require additional entertainment, the multimedia system mounted in the front seat backs provides relief with a DVD player and 7-inch monitors.

Interior, bodyshell and technology come together in the BRABUS GLKWidestar to create a refined overall image that is as impressive on the show stand in Las Vegasas it is in everyday operation. Bodo Buschmann is certain of this, “Our BRABUS GLKWidestar may be a show car created specifically for SEMAin Las Vegas, but our technical solution meets legislative requirements in both Europeand the U.S.With sufficient interest from the public, the Widestar can become a reality.”

Brabus Mercedes-Benz E V12

Auto Car | Brabus Mercedes-Benz E V12 | The fourth E V12 generation based on the latest Mercedes E-Class once again sets new standards as the world’s most powerful high-performance sedan. At the heart of this exclusive small-series-production car is the newly developed BRABUS SV12 R Biturbo 800 twelve-cylinder displacement engine.

With a rated power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft) this engine catapults the four-door car from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds on its way to a top speed of over 370 km/h (230 mph). The exclusively appointed BRABUS E V12 is built in a limited “one of ten” edition and starts at 498,000 Euros MSRP.

BRABUS, recognized by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Agency (Kraftfahrtbundesamt) as a vehicle manufacturer, builds the new E V12 “one of ten” based on the reinforced body of the latest Mercedes E-Class.
The next evolutionary stage of the proven BRABUS SV 12 Biturbo displacement engine is called SV12 R Biturbo 800 and was developed specifically for this vehicle. The engine is implanted into the modified engine bay of the E-Class with almost surgical precision.

Displacement of the twelve-cylinder engine that usually powers the latest Mercedes 600 models is increased from standard 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.). The increase is affected with a special crankshaft with longer stroke, precision-balanced pistons rods and pistons with a larger diameter and an increased cylinder bore. The inner workings of the BRABUS engine are further modified with special sport camshafts and cylinder heads optimized for mixture flow.

Both the air intake and the BRABUS twin-turbo system were newly developed for this car. The latter features two custom manifolds with integrated high-performance turbochargers and four water-to-air intercoolers. The combustion air is provided by a carbon-fiber RAM-air intake system in the hood. In addition a high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts was custom-developed for the platform of the new E-Class.

New engine electronics with specially programmed mapping for injection and ignition ensure not only exemplary power yield but also compliance with the strict EURO IV emission limits. The high-tech lubricants for the entire drivetrain are supplied by technology partner ARAL.
With these modifications the engine of the BRABUS E V12 “one of ten” produces an enormous power output of 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm and an even more impressive peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), available at a low 2,100 rpm. In the car peak torque is limited electronically to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).
Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a BRABUS high-performance limited-slip differential with a locking rate of 40 percent. The BRABUS E V12 comes standard with state-of-the-art driving stability programs that can be deactivated at the push of a button.

Following the tradition of the first three BRABUS E V12 sedans the 2010 edition once again delivers driving performance normally reserved for only a very few select super sports cars. The sedan, which weighs in at 1,980 kilograms (4,365 lbs), sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds. After just 9.9 seconds the four-door car reaches a speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). The 300-km/h (186-mph) mark is reached after just 23.9 seconds. Top speed is more than 370 km/h (230 mph) but is limited electronically for reasons of tire safety to 350 km/h (217 mph).
