Reiter Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 Strada 2009

Auto Car | Reiter Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 Strada 2009 | The main objective of the REITER Strada concept is to bring the technology, experience and know-how from many years of motorsport activity to the street. A typical Lamborghini, in itself a work of art, nevertheless leave a few areas for optimization.

The REITER Murciélago Strada is designed in the style of its aggressive looking brother the race REITER Murciélago R-GT, which is a reason why the REITER Murciélago Strada is still one of the fastest 15 cars to lap the Hockenheimring.

In the process of this benchmark test staged by the specialist magazine "sport auto" it also leaves current Lamborghini brand models, such as the LP560-4 or Superleggera, in its wake. The Strada derivatives will also benefit from the current development work on the REITER Gallardo GT3 Evo-kit. The undoubted spectacular appearance of the REITER Murciélago Strada is more than emphasized by the sound of our exhaust system.

Front splitter, rear diffusor and an aluminum flat bottom collectively form the refined aerodynamic configuration. The application of original Alcantara leather in the cockpit for the in-house designed sports bucket seats lends the car more than a touch of sporting elegance. Find more pictures in the gallery.

Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago Streetversion 2009

Auto Car | Reiter Lamborghini Murcielago Streetversion 2009 | Automobili Lamborghini has released the first photographs of a limited edition Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster. The Roadster version of the Murciélago will offer an uprated 6.5 litre V12 engine that produces 650 hp (478 kW) along with permanent four-wheel drive: hence the model’s LP 650-4 moniker. With 660 Nm of torque, top performance is at 0-100km/h (0-62mph) in 3.4 seconds. The top speed is around 330 Km/h (205mph).

The special edition model will be produced in a limited volume (50 units only), with a Grigio Telesto exterior that combines grey bodywork with a special bright orange Arancio LP 650-4 featured on the front spoiler and sills. The LP 650-4 logo applied to the car’s exterior is recognition of the car’s increased power. The car features orange brake calipers and a transparent V12-engine cover, which shows off the V12 engine behind the driver.

Interior features echo the car's striking grey-and-orange exterior: besides the orange touches, there is an asymmetric dash design, with black Alcantara Nera on the driver's side, including door panel and central tunnel, and black leather Nero Perseus on the passenger's side.

The increased power of the Murciélago engine, from 640 to 650 hp, will be unique to the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster: it demonstrates even further the developments that Lamborghini is able to offer from a current engine, and creates the exclusive characteristic of the Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster.

BF-performance Lamborghini Gallardo GT600 2010

Auto Car | BF-performance Lamborghini Gallardo GT600 2010 | Another priority was to upgrade the suspension in order to improve drivability, driving dynamics and precision. edo competition achieved this by employing a newly developed sport suspension system, which is adjustable in compression and rebound damping. This technology allows for custom suspension setups that are ideally matched to a wide range of needs. The low friction shock absorbers and new spring rates were tested extensively on race tracks and high speed ovals, as well as on the road, because handling is not an area for compromise. The result has to be experienced to be believed...

Rounding off the sporty concept are 19 in. three-piece racing wheels with artificially-aged cast center-sections, hand-polished outer rims and 39 stainless steel screws. For the front axle the customer can specify stock tire dimensions or 235/35 ZR 19, while the rear wheels are shod with 305/30 ZR 19 Dunlop Sport Maxx rubber. With this solution edo competition enables its customers to reuse the factory tires on their new wheels.

Another, ever-intriguing topic at edo competition: „The voice“.
The new stainless steel high-performance exhaust system with butterfly valves is an attractive proposition. Not only is the sound level adjustable via remote, the exhaust also frees up 15 horsepower and lets the driver enjoy a whole new aural experience. As a welcome side effect, the edo exhaust system weighs 12 kg (26 lb) less than the original piece.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore 2011

Auto Car | Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore 2011  | The Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Bicolore, a Special Edition supersports car which will be produced for the European and Asian-Pacific markets, while for the American market it will be only available in the version LP550-2. With its new Bicolore model, Lamborghini is now setting a further design highlight in the ten-cylinder model series. The colored exterior finish matched with the black on the upper area of the body gives the Gallardo a new, more aggressive personality that looks even wider, even more extreme and innately adhered to the road.

From the window-line upwards (including pillars, roof, engine hood and rear spoiler), the vehicle is decorated in Noctis Black – a pastel black that contrasts perfectly with the lower area of the body, available in a choice of five colors: Giallo Midas, Arancio Borealis, Grigio Telesto, Bianco Monocerus and Blu Caelum. The exterior appearance is enhanced by Skorpius aluminum-alloy rims with 15 thin spokes that are forged to minimize unsprung weight and are finished in titanium gray enamel. And, the air intakes and front spoiler have a high-gloss black finish, as does the upper section of the rear diffuser.

Well over 10,000 Gallardos have left the production facility at company headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese – a unique success story in the world of super sports cars. The Bicolore Special Edition is particularly intended for the enthusiast who desires a supercar with an exclusive appearance and remarkable design. In any event, he or she will own a Lamborghini that is altogether distinguished by an extremely dynamic character, maximum driving excitement, yet an ability to be driven daily.

2010 BF-performance Lamborghini Gallardo GT600

Auto Car | 2010 BF-performance Lamborghini Gallardo GT600 | In the Swiss city Zug, perfection has a different meaning than in the Italian town Sant’Agata Bolognese. While Lamborghini is satisfied with the Gallardo LP560-4, the Swiss have higher demands – at least the engineers at BF-performance.

For them, the Gallardo is too innocent and neither dynamic nor individual enough. Therefore, they turn both the Coupé and also the Spyder into the GT600 which has a stronger performance, more self-confidence and looks more aggressive.

Swiss tuning firm BF-performance, based in the wonderfully named city of Zug, have developed a comprehensive modification package for the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. And in the process they've also renamed it the GT600.

Not content with just making some pretty bits to stick onto the Gallardo LP560-4, the engineers at BF-performance also developed a number of performance enhancements and modification options for the drivetrain. Most significant is the option for a RWD only configuration - just like on the Gallardo LP550-2 Balboni edition. In total the other modifications have also rendered a weight reduction of 43 kgs (95 lbs) which further improves performance.

The new body panels, marked out by the fact they're finished in clearcoated carbon fiber, are all situated around the bottom of the car. The BF-perfomance GT600 gets a new front bumper - which is similar in style to the original car's, wider race-inspired sideskirts, and a rather obvious fixed rear spoiler. The rear wing, which provides a significant improvement in downforce over the rear axle, is actually quite fetching and it suits the lines of the car very well indeed.

The wing doors render a significant amount of individuality, but are strictly limited to Lamborghini models with twelve-cylinder engines. Due to the refinement by BF-performance, also the GT600 with a V10 engine can be equipped with doors which are so typical for Lamborghini.

And of course the engineers also focused on the engine performance. BF-performance has confirmed the performance of the new automobile in an impressive race. On the Sachsenring round course, the GT600 even managed to beat the stronger Lamborghini Murciélago LP640-4 SV by an impressive lead of 0.6 seconds.

The interior also follows this dynamic maxim. Apart from the sports bucket seats, BF-performance also offers five-point belts, a roll-over cage and a carbon-ceramic braking system with which the GT600 meets the highest racing standards. BF-performance visually adjusts the interior to the increased dynamics. The manufactory uses carbon on the steering wheel, door handles, ventilation grids and even at the switch casings. The customer can even opt for carbon in his favourite colour.
BF-performance offers the entire car with all components either as the sporty Coupé GT600 or also as the Roadster GT600 Spyder.

The entire automobile confirms the perfection and passion for detail applied by BF-performance. The Lamborghini specialist has already gained experience with the predecessor model and now brings its art of engineering into perfection with the GT 600. Also Lamborghini’s design development confirms the talents of BF-performance, as the Swiss specialist is always one step ahead of the Italian manufacturer.

Lamborghini Diablo SV

Auto Car | Lamborghini Diablo SV  | Following their acquisition of Lamborghini in July 1998, the Volkswagen Audi Group debuted the first Diablo to be partially developed under their ownership three months later. More than just a quick bit of cosmetic surgery though, the new SV and VT were the culmination of two years intensive work, 1999 model year Diablo's getting more power and torque, all new interiors, improved safety equipment and a distinctive new look thanks to glass-covered headlights. Available in two-wheel drive SV or four-wheel drive VT configurations, either type could be specified with Berlinetta or Roadster bodywork.

The VT was Lamborghini’s four-wheel drive Diablo, the SV a less refined rear drive version that appealed to the more enthusiastic driver. 1999 model year Diablo's wore 18-inch three-piece OZ wheels in a choice of three alternative styles and benefitted from the latest generation Lucas ABS technology, bigger Brembo ventilated and perforated brake discs and four cylinder aluminium alloy calipers. A Dynamic Rear Proportioning system minimised tail snaking under heavy braking and while the VT ’99's weight was unchanged at 1625kg, the SV shed 46kg in its transition to ’99 spec (1530kg). Both '99 variants used the 530bhp motor that had been introduced as an option late in 1997 with its revised engine management system and variable valve timing. Displacement went unchanged at 5707cc thanks to a bore and stroke of 87 x 80mm respectively. Although compression was generally set at 10.7:1, clients could have a higher setting if they desired while there was also the possibility of selecting alternative gear ratios. Performance was moved on once again with 0-60 shrinking to 3.9 seconds, top speeds rising to a monumental 209mph. The only major visual change was the substitution of Gandini’s retractable headlights for fixed lenses underneath clear glass covers.

Giving a brighter, broader and more consistent spread of light, the new Diablo was arguably looking better than ever despite approaching its tenth birthday. SV ’99's used different front spoilers to the four-wheel drive models whilst the VT Roadster and Berlinetta also differed from one another. Open-topped VT's got SE30-style engine cooling blades, while both types had distinctly different front spoilers. The Berlinetta retained the more traditional four square driving lights and brake cooling ducts while VT Roadster's were blighted with fussy spot lights and grilles best hidden by a dark paint scheme.

VT ’99's didn't get the hood mounted air scoops of the SV which also now came fitted with a colour coded carbonfibre rear wing as standard (although this could be deleted for the first time). VT ’99 Berlinetta's destined for the USA were nearly always fitted with Roadster front and rear bumpers, North American cars also featuring vertical blades for the engine cooling duct ahead of each rear wheelarch. Undoubtedly the most significant aesthetic revisions were inside though, the entire dash having been re-shaped to accommodate a passenger airbag, the sweeping new instrument binnacle being positioned closer to the driver. A redesigned central console and all new switchgear also made a big difference, the cabins improved ergonomics and more comfortable appointments being universally welcomed. Launched during October 1998 at the Paris Salon, the ’99 model year Diablo's were widely acknowledged as the best yet by roadtesters and journalists, the improved performance, dynamics and comfort receiving gushing praise. However, it was not long before Lamborghini were offering limited production versions often fitted out with special options. There were three special editions built, all on VT '99's, the Alpine, Momo Roadster and Millennium Roadster being covered in Part 8.

2008 Lamborghini Reventon

Auto Car | 2008 Lamborghini Reventon | We shouldn’t be surprised that Lamborghini’s new ultra-elite supercar shares its name with a bull—this one famous for the 1943 death of legendary matador Felix Guzman in Mexico. Despite its bloody inspiration, every 2008 Reventon has already sold out—to 20 millionaires who wish they could fly F22 Raptor fighter jets. That’s where much of the inspiration came from, according to Lamborghini. Indeed, the unbelievably angular shape looks more like Batman’s next plane than something you’d see on the way to the mall.

Clearly a Lamborghini, but nothing quite like it. A super car without equals: the Lamborghini Reventon is a road vehicle with an extreme specification and, at the same time, a limited edition masterpiece – a coherent style, angular with sharp lines, inspired by the very latest aeronautics.

With just 20 produced, each 1 Million Euro (without taxes) Lamborghini Reventon is a symbol of extreme exclusivity, yet still offering the extraordinary performance that makes the Reventon so unrivalled: under the completely autonomous design, the Reventon possesses the entire technical and dynamic competence of the twelve cylinder Lamborghini.

Lamborghini prides itself on being the extraordinary manufacturer of extreme super sports cars without compromise. Sensuality and provocation characterise every Lamborghini, with an aggressively innovative style. “However, the Reventón is the most extreme of all, a true automotive superlative. Our designers at the Lamborghini Style Centre took the technical base of the Murcielago LP640 and compressed and intensified its DNA, its genetic code,” affirms Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.

The Lamborghini Reventon has been entirely designed in Sant’Agata Bolognese, the original birthplace of the Lamborghini and the native home of every super car born under the sign of the bull. The design drawn up in Lamborghini’s Centro Stile (Style Centre) is fine-tuned in close collaboration with the Lamborghini Research and Development Department. Thus, the Reventon is not only “haute couture” but it also stands out for its elevated dynamism whilst being entirely suitable for every day use.

The Lamborghini Reventón is not destined to remain a one-off. A total of 20 Lamborghini friends and collectors will be able to own this extraordinary car and, naturally, enjoy the incomparable pleasure of driving it.

The name Reventon has been chosen according to Lamborghini tradition. Reventon was a fighting bull, owned by the Don Rodriguez family. It is included in the list of the most famous bulls ever and is known for killing the famed bullfighter Felix Guzman in 1943.

Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce

Auto Car | Lamborghini Murcielago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce | Just unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show is the 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP670-4 SV. The number 670 represents the car’s metric horsepower rating (661 bhp in the U.S.), the SV stands for SuperVeloce (extreme speed) and the number 4 signifies all-wheel-drive.

The bump in horsepower from the standard Murciélago’s 640 hp (631 bhp SAE) was accomplished with modified intake system and increased valve lift. According to the factory, the 30-horsepower gain helps to push the new SV to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 sec. Top speed of 212 mph is reached with the standard rear spoiler. A larger rear “Aeropack Wing” can also be ordered to improve stability at high speeds, though the top speed is then reduced to 209 mph.

To further enhance performance, the SuperVeloce went on a diet with lighter components such as a new exhaust system, optimized high-strength sectional steel for the chassis, and sport bucket seats covered with Alcantara. All contributed to the car’s overall weight reduction of about 220 lb.

On the outside, a redesigned carbon-fiber front spoiler is pulled forward and painted in matte black to emphasize the SV’s increase in power. Larger air intakes for the front brakes are installed, with additional vents in place on the fenders for better cooling. At the rear, a single, flat exhaust tip is complemented underside by a two-level carbon-fiber diffuser.

2010 Lamborghini Gallardo

Auto Car | 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo | About a year ago, Lamborghini introduced a special edition Gallardo to honor Valentino Balboni, a man who started his journey at the company as a mechanic apprentice and was then asked by the founder to test drive every single new Lamborghini model.

Known as the Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni, the model drops the all-wheel-drive system and sends 550-hp to the rear wheels. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.9 seconds with top speed limited at 199 mph. Not bad right? Well, if you’re a tuner company by the name of Anderson Germany – you’re going to try to make it better.

Besides offering a sportier look with 20-inch wheels, Anderson Germany increased output from 550-hp to 582-hp. Anderson Germany doesn’t say how much of a difference the extra boost provides in performance, but we’re guessing it gives the LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni a little extra oomph

It is always a challenge when you take even the most seemingly perfect car – as the Lamborghini undoubtedly is – and have it undergo a treatment in order to present it to an admiring audience in an even more perfect condition. For example with a car that is not exactly under-motorised – the Lamborghini Gallardo Balboni Edition.

Because the exterior of this fast car can hardly be improved, the team at the company ANDERSON GERMANY – with their headquarters in Düsseldorf – have concentrated more on the interior than on the small visible external “details” and this has given them room to go all out.

Small visible details would include the tint of the tail lamps and the panes. Alone the description of the exclusive three-part rims with specialty lacquering would be enough to fill more pages than we have space for here. To sum up: these are specially lacquered rims, 8.5×20 and 11.5×20 inches in size, soled with high performance tyres measuring 235/30-20 at the front and 305/25-20 at the back. Although they are not immediately visible, this is more than made up for by the audible exhaust system, which can be adjusted with a remote controlled, three-step valve control.

In the completely refined interior the logo-decorated seats and the generously built Carbon in White are an absolute feast for the eyes. It is worth mentioning the increased performance of the engine, from 550 PS to 590 with an even higher maximum torque.

The company ANDERSON GERMANY is an elite tuner, which turns luxury cars into truly one of a kind vehicles. The vehicles are of course fine-tuned for the stars of this world according to their special requests, inside as well as outside. A special pick-up service is offered to do this, regardless of the car’s location. Naturally, the final product is delivered to the same place.

We offer exclusive rims, complete lacquering or film coating, carbon finishing, specially manufactured exhaust systems, increased performance, interior finishing to the finest degree as well as high end multimedia solutions.

2010 First Drive: Lamborghini Gallardo LP 5704

Auto Car | 2010 First Drive:  Lamborghini Gallardo LP 5704 | The explosive burble from the V10's exhaust coming off the back straight seems powerful enough to vaporize insects in mid-air. The Howitzer-like concussions shock through the firewall and slam into our spines an instant before the combustive dissonance has time to reverberate off the outside wall and into our eardrums. The menacing acoustics force the other cars on the circuit to back off, while trackside spectators crane their necks to look up and cheer as the Lamborghini rockets by. We're at California Speedway attending the "The Ultimate Lamborghini Experience." This annual event allows owners to play with their exotics in a controlled environment free of driving citations and other pesky... um, slow cars. Since we don't own an Italian exotic, we have to thank Lamborghini of Beverly Hills for graciously bringing along the automaker's latest and greatest. In this case, it's the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera.

Metamorphosing into the highest-performing Lamborghini Gallardo model to ever leave the assembly line in Sant'Agata Bolognese wasn't easy. Using a 560-4 as a base, Lamborghini painstakingly made dozens of changes to lighten the chassis, improve aerodynamics, refine the suspension and tune the ten-cylinder engine for more power. When it finally debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2010, the newest Gallardo flagship was nothing short of spectacular. At a glance, the 570-4 Superleggera is physically differentiated by its reworked front bumper with deep trapezoidal frames around the air intakes, a V-shaped nose and LED daytime running lamps. Lamborghini says the new fascia is functional, as it increases engine cooling and adds downforce to the front axle. The underbody, featuring a full belly pan, has new side sills, new tailpipes and a redesigned diffuser to improve aerodynamics. A small spoiler is standard, but a large wing for even more downforce is optional. There are new graphics on the sides and the ever-important identifying "LP 570-4" emblems in front of each rear wheel.

Under the paint, things are a bit more radical. As mentioned, the 570-4 Superleggera is based on the Gallardo 560-4 (itself a lightweight 3,108-pound platform). The new model retains aluminum spaceframe and body panels, but replaces many of the exterior components with lighter composite structures. Carbon fiber has been used on the rear spoiler, sills, diffuser, exterior mirror casings and underbody panels. Composites are also used extensively in the cabin. The center tunnel cover, door panels, transmission surround and sport seat shells are all carbon fiber (our model had an optional carbon fiber package that adds even more "lightness" to the cockpit). Even the "heavy" natural leather has been replaced by lightweight synthetic Alcantara. Still seeking to save more weight, Lamborghini fitted the 570-4 Superleggera with polycarbonate rear and side windows, and a polycarbonate panel over the engine. While the engineering team went seriously unhinged when it came to weight loss, the air conditioning and power windows were deliberately retained (one must not sacrifice comfort, says Lamborghini).

The aluminum double-wishbone suspension is left in place, but the shock absorbers are firmer, the anti-roll bars are stiffened and the mounting points have been reinforced. Standard brakes are huge iron rotors with aluminum calipers. However, our test car was fitted with Lambo's optional carbon-fiber ceramic brake package with 15-inch discs and six-piston calipers in the front, and four-piston units at the rear. The wheels are 10-spoke forged aluminum beauties secured by featherweight, but very strong, titanium wheel bolts. Special Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are 235/35ZR19 in the front and 295/30ZR19 at the rear. In all fairness, the R8 5.2 is a trophy-toting beauty queen while the LP 570-4 is an international supermodel – but let's ignore the ocular comparisons for now.

The Audi is amazingly easy to drive fast, and just as easy to drive slowly. The German is comfortable, roomy and well-mannered. The Lamborghini is harder to drive, but faster and more rewarding at speed. The Italian is impeccably finished, but raw by design. To be more concise: The Audi can waltz, but the Lamborghini grabs you and does an R-rated Rio tango.
The Audi doesn't really compete with the LP 570-4 Superleggera, nor does the Aston Martin DBS or Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, for that matter. However, the upcoming Porsche GT2 RS may put up a good fight. We didn't check with Animal Planet, but our current research says the only true natural enemy of the LP 570-4 Superleggera could be the stunning Ferrari 458 Italia. Owners need not worry, as this Lamborghini will most likely never cross paths with any worthy adversary.

The 570-4 Superleggera is unquestionably the most talented Lamborghini on the road today. Fusing a highly-tuned powerplant and a sophisticated drive system to a lightweight chassis is what real sports cars are all about. Unlike its predecessors that seemed to possess more panache than event-winning medals, the all-new 2010 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera delivers astronomical performance that will not only land the coupe on the red carpet, but more often than not, on the top of the podium.
