2005 Pagani Zonda F

Auto Car | 2005 Pagani Zonda F | The custom-built Pagani Zonda F is constructed using the skills and expertise of craftsmen and the most advanced technology available. Its principal construction materials are carbon fibre, aluminium alloys, avional, chrome-molybdenum alloy, titanium and leathers. The concept behind the Zonda F was to develop a vehicle which was lightweight, safe and individual, offering superlative performance. Comparisons can be drawn between the racing inspiration behind the Zonda F and that of the 1960’s Miura.

Fangio’s wish was for the Zonda F to be fitted with a Mercedes-Benz engine, and his wish has been granted by AMG, whose 12-cylinder powerhouse has been provided to Pagani. It is a lightweight engine, producing 600 bhp and a torque of 576 lb/ft.

Each individual component of the Zonda F is scrutinised and recorded by Pagani, resulting in a custom manual for each vehicle. Such meticulous methods are more reminiscent of the aviation industry than car manufacture.

Sculpted body

The Zonda F cuts through the air like a knife through butter. Its immense power produces considerable down force on the road surface, gluing the tyres to the tarmac to enable maximum efficiency in power and torque transfer.

The significance of aerodynamic sculpting is even more pronounced in terms of safety. Emergency braking and reaction times are facilitated by the Zonda F’s supreme road holding. The contribution of the carbon-ceramic brakes cannot be doubted, but Pagani have included many more features to improve safety. Shock absorber geometry, reduced vehicle weight and a carefully designed low centre of gravity all enable the car to remain flawlessly flat to the ground – even the rear tyres show no lift.

Assisted by the aerodynamics of the Zonda F’s body shape, the AMG engine produces some outstanding performance statistics. The Clubsport variant generates 650 bhp at 6,200 rpm, with torque peaking off at 576 lb//ft at 4,000 rpm. These factors combine to propel the Zonda F from 0-62 mph in an astonishing 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 214 mph.

This is a highly reactive, safe sports car. It exhibits little or no body roll even in the tightest of corners, and the Nardi steering wheel gives the driver the impression of being in direct contact with the tarmac below. The Zonda F is equipped with minimal electronics.

Pagani have of course reacted to the modern market’s demand for comfort and driveability, and interior refinement is surprising for a super car with a top speed of 214 mph. Yet the manufacturers have not abandoned their original concept of creating a world-class sports car based on quality and performance.

2007 Pagani Zonda R

Auto Car | 2007 Pagani Zonda R | While we certainly cannot say the Zonda F lacks performance figures, driving around the Nurburgring in 7:32 and achieving lateral G forces of almost 1.5 G, it is however a road car, easy to drive, intuitive and setting the benchmark for comfort, safety and lightweight. Paired with a quality finish and the attention to detail this made the Zonda F one of the most desirable supercars resulting in the 25 Coupe models being sold out in record time.

The spark has been set by an Italo-American customer, enthusiast and already proud owner of 3 Zondas. He describes the project this way: “The thought has been on my mind for quite some time, but I am not interested in racing”.

The Zonda R is born with full liberty. The target: the ultimate performance at the racetrack without any implications of rules, except for safety, where no compromise is allowed. In September 2006 the first drawings were ready, but it was crucial to have the support of Mercedes-AMG for a high revving engine with a power output of 750hp, dry sump, light and with a low centre of gravity. The basis was the self supporting engine of the mighty CLK GTR, which has dominated the GT championships.

Eve at constant racing pace the engine would have to cover over 5.000 km before servicing. The challenge has been accepted without hesitation.

The Zonda R is a car designed from scratch, with only 10% of the Zonda F components to be carried over. The suspension forged in Avional, a new Pagani six speed transversal sequential gearbox, carbon fibre monocoque, aeronautical four pump fuel tank are only part of the equation.

The wheelbase has grown by 47mm, the overall length by 394 mm and the track is increased by 50mm. The bodywork and aerodynamics have been studied to offer maximum downforce. Even though built for the track, the project would not have received kick off, if the quality and finish of the car and its details was not up to the level of the Pagani road cars.

One of the first cars to be delivered however will be kept in a living room, designed by Pagani and built with the same materials as the Zonda F, beautifully textured carbon fibre, avional, titanium, inconel and other state of the art materials. Additionally it will feature a bespoke HiFi System that will allow the customer to listen to the sound of this car at Le Mans and the Nurburgring.

The Pagani customers who have ordered the Zonda R will be relieved of almost 1.2 million + taxes. This Zonda is purpose made for track use, without restrictions of any competition rules or homologation, with the only exclusion of the passengers’ integrity, where no compromise is tolerated according to our philosophy and state-of-the-art safety measures are featured.

The engine is built by the racing specialists at Mercedes AMG, where the championship winning DTM cars are born, as well as the CLK GTR, probably the most devastating and effective weapon ever to compete in the GT series. From it’s engene the Zonda R borrows the basic architecture including an ingenious dry sump allowing a low centre of gravity. This self-supporting engine with 750 hp at 8000 rpm and 710 Nm of torque carries a lightweight carbon fibre highperformance intake system, a racing multiple disc sintered clutch and Formula 1 style exhaust system, hydroformed in Inconel 625 and ceramic coated for optimal heat dissipation. The power unit combined with a 6 speed transversal manual sequential synchronised gearbox is designed to satisfy the most ambitious drivers.

The central carbon chassis will incorporate a roll cage and a rubber racing fuel tank with 4 fuel pumps and quick refuel filler like on GT race cars. The wheelbase has been increased by 47mm to offer the best stability. The front and rear subframes are brand-new, built to accommodate a new suspension geometry, produced in avional. The magnesium forged rims with central wheel nut and a quick pneumatic lifting system allows fast and effortless changes of the slick tyres.

The interior is designed to accommodate the driver and passenger in bespoke seats, built to offer the best support, when the G-forces from the vehicle dynamics come into question. The Digitek instrumentation provides the essential information and a sophisticated telemetry allows through a variety of sensors to monitor every single component of the car.

2009 Pagani Zonda R

Auto Car | 2009 Pagani Zonda R | The Zonda R was launched today in Austria at the Vienna Auto Show which comes more than two years after Pagani Automobili announced the Zonda R for one of their dedicated customers. Built as the ultimate track day supercar, this model builds upon the previous Zondas, but takes their engineering to the next level. Since the Zonda R is not scheduled to race or comply with any regulations, Horacio Pagani's team at Modena Design had total freedom when designing the car, however, Pagani maintains that high a level safety was top priority for both him and his customer. What this means is that the Zonda R is probably faster and more responsive than any of the production racecars in current motor sports.
Who knew track cars could look so good? The 2009 Pagani Zonda R, based on the Zonda and Zonda Cinque models but featuring a whole host of race only goodies, should be capable of levels of adhesion not even roadgoing Pagani cars can match. Saying a lot, considering the Zonda at one point held the production car lap record for the Nurburgring Nordschlieffe, perhaps the world's most difficult road course.
There's a lot to like with the new Zonda R, starting with the Mercedes/AMG-sourced V12 bolted directly onto the rear of the chassis. The 6.0 liter firebreather outputs 750 horsepower in Pagani Zonda R trim, enough to take the car to 60 mph in less than 2.7 seconds on race tires, among the fastest acceleration of anything on four wheels, anywhere.

Bosch provides a tricky two-way traction control and ABS system. Top speed is listed as 350 km/h, or a lofty 217.47 mph. In track situations where flat cornering is more important than outright speed, the 2009 Zonda R's aero system can be adjusted for a maximum of 1.500 kg of downforce.
The cockpit carries two seats, though most will of course prefer to take the Zonda solo. Not drivable on the street, the new 2009 Zonda R is available for purchase by privateer racing teams, though you'll have to pay through the roof: a cool 1.46 million Euros.

Expect Zonda R models to compete in endurance series worldwide this year, as well as in the annual fun and games at Nurburgring. Release date will be in time for the 2009 racing season.
A Pagani Zonda is never shy of a drive at the racetrack, a fact that was undermined numerous times in the past with records for production vehicles at the Nurburgring Nordschleife. With the input of its avid track focused customers, the Pagani team has created the Zonda R using bespoke engineering solutions to meet the performance demands for a trackday version of the highly popular Zonda F.

The central monocoque is made of a Carbon-Titanium composite, increasing rigidity while reducing significantly the weight. Bolted directly to the chassis is the Mercedes AMG 6.0 litre race derived V12 engine, with 750 hp and 710 Nm of torque. A direct throttle actuation via mechanical cable ensures immediate throttle response.
The Xtrac Magnesium cased dog ring gearbox combined with tha Automac Engineering AMT system performs gearshifts in 20ms, triggered by the drivers input on the paddles behind the steering wheel. A 12-way Bosch Motorsport traction control and ABS system allows the driver to fully adjust the settings while driving the Zonda R.

At the pits, each driver will be able to find a suitable setup thanks to a fully adjustable suspension and wing configuration. The effectiveness of the rear is matched by a complex new front bonnet, a masterpiece realised with the help of models by Ennegi, as well as the closed underbody and rear diffusor. Aerodynamic setups rage from a high downforce setting of 1.500kg to a 350kmh top speed setting.

Aspa forged AvionAl suspension components as well as machined structural ErgAl parts holding the engine and gearbox have been designed to reduce the weight of the overall car, Poggipolini Titanium screws are used on the whole car. These measures lead to a dry weight of 1,070 kg.

The interior has been designed to offer a perfect environment for the driver. The controls are limited to the indispensable, but the quality finish reflects the usual demanding Pagani standards. The bespoke Toora seats are FIA homologated and comply to latest HANS standards, five-point safety belts and a CrMo roll-cage assure the occupants’ safety.

The lucky owners of the Zonda R will experience a level of performance on the track, that is simply not possible on the road. A power-to-weight ratio of 701 hp-per-ton will catapult them from 0 to 60 mph in less than 2.7 seconds, the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes ensure the car comes to a standstill even quicker.

The Zonda R is built in a limited production run and sold at a price of 1.460.000 Euro plus taxes, a performance machine, a track toy, a collectors item, a masterpiece signed by Horacio Pagani.

2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster

Auto Car | 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster | The 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster is an exclusive offering from Pagani as the car manufacturer has limited the production of the roadster version of the Zonda Cinque coupé to just five units. Just like the Zonda Cinque, the Roadster was produced with weight reduction measures in mind to improve its overall performance, driving experience, and emission. Because the 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster has no roof, its carbon-titanium chassis has been redesigned to make up for the missing roof.

The 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster, a 2-door convertible production car, features a Mercedes-Benz AMG mid-engine (with rear-wheel drive) that boasts of a horsepower of 678 bhp and torque of 780 Nm. With it powerful engine, it can reach 60 mph within 3.3 seconds. The folks at Pagani have designed the car with ECU, ABS, and traction control by Bosch Engineering. The roadster has a 6-speed sequential transmission, a ceramic-coated Inconel/titanium exhaust system, magnesium and titanium suspensions, and APP monolithic wheels fashioned from aluminum and magnesium. The 2009 Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster’s interior features Pagani leather/carbon-fiber racing seats.

The Cinque experience is enhanced with the roof stored in the front bonnet, when the storm of air being fed to the 678hp Mercedes AMG V12 engine through the massive intake just inches over the passengers’ ears, accompanies the exhaust note of the bespoke Zonda Cinque Inconel and Titanium exhaust system.

Whether you opt for a relaxed country drive in Tuscany’s hills, visiting Florence and other centres of the Italian Renaissance, or a record hunt at the Nürburgring, this 1.3 milion Euro + taxes jewel will reward with every day driveability and ultimate performance thanks to the different drive modes of the sequential robostised gearbox and an adjustable suspension setup that feels at home as well at the racetrack as on bumpy roads.

The Italian super car manufacturer who relies on Mercedes Benz for their power plants, Pagani, has just unleashed an all new roadster version of the stunning Zonda R. The new Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster, as it is known, will be a very valuable commodity, limited to only 5 units priced at 1.3 million Euro each.
4.

Behind the driver’s head in the Pagani Cinque Roadster is a hand built twin turbocharged AMG V12 engine that makes 678 HP. That tremendous amount of power lets the rocket ship inspired vehicle to sprint to 60 MPH from a standstill in just 3.4 seconds and hit 200 km/h in under ten seconds and it won’t stop until it reaches a top speed of 217 MPH.

2010 Pagani Zonda Tricolore

Auto Car | 2010 Pagani Zonda Tricolore | On the occasion of the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 'Frecce Tricolori', Pagani Automobili created the Zonda Tricolore as a tribute to the National Aerobatic Team. The latest Zonda variant is this Tricolore special edition. It first appeared in the Pagani showroom in late January of 2010 and was photographed by our friend Julien Giambagli of Supercarfrance.com.

This first car was built as a one-of for the Spanish importer Guarnieri. Like the Cinque editions that were built for a Hong Kong dealership, the Tricolore has numerous special features including the flappy-paddle gearbox from X-trac. The car uses tinted carbon fibre much like the Veyron Grand Sport ‘Sang Bleu’ released in 2009. This new Zonda also has upgrades from both the Cinque and Zonda R.

Probably the most unique feature, asides from the color, is a small fin which sits on the engine cover. Other aerodynamic pieces include the front splitter, rear wing and diffuser from the Cinque. The top of the rear fenders have scoops from the the Zonda R for brake cooling. The front lighting system is overhauled to include new LED front signals and more-protruding projector-beam headlights.

Inside and between the seats is a plaque which states "Pagani Zonda Tricolore 1 of 1, Exclusively made for Guarnieri." Furthermore, the symbol of the Guarnieri BMW/MINI dealership in Marbellas, Spain is embroidered on the headrests. Later Pagani attached a badge which stated "Zonda Tricolore 1 of 3" for the Geneva Motor Show and removed the embroidered headrests.

The Tricolore livery is new the Zonda range. The theme is a two-tone stripe which runs down the side of the car. At the front, it is split up by the Italian national colors which continue on the rear wing. The broad stripe its actually tinted carbon fiber with a small outline in opaque blue.

Today we can present three excellent images of the Tricolore from Pagani's own showroom in Modena. We hope to get more details once Pagani releases their own information and images.

Like most Paganis, the Zonda Tricolore is built mostly out of titanium, magnesium, and carbon fiber, and its blue and gray carbon-fiber body panels, with red, white, and green stripes running up the hood, pay homage to the Frecce Tricolori’s Aermacchi MB-339-A/PAN aircraft and the Italian flag. The coolest touches, however, are the Zonda Tricolore’s bright-gold 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, as well as the spacey, green-tinted canopy, which offers quite the view of the gleaming blue-and-white interior.

Nestled amidships is the familiar (to a Pagani owner, anyway) Mercedes-Benz AMG 7.3-liter V-12 engine, which sends some 670 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed sequential gearbox from Cima. The brakes are giant carbon-ceramic units from Brembo, while the exhaust is made of heat-resistant Inconel and lightweight titanium. Pagani says that the near-2700-pound Tricolore is capable of hitting 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and 124 mph in just 9.6. Lateral acceleration is claimed to be an eye-tugging 1.45 g.

Pagani Zonda C12-S Monza

Auto Car | Pagani Zonda C12-S Monza | Underlining its position as a speciality manufacturer, Pagani showed the C12S 'Monza' at the 2004 Paris Motorshow. Constructed to the wishes of a customer, the Monza features various modifications that make it especially suited for track-day use. Although it is built as a racing car, the one-off Zonda does not comply to any specific set of rules and is not intended for racing.

Weight saving was on the top of the list, for as far as that's still possible on the ultra light Zonda road car. The interior was stripped and two racing seats fitted and the side windows are made of polycarbonate. A reinforced roll-cage is fitted for extra driver protection. New pedals and steering wheel round off the changes carried through on the interior compared to the 'standard' Zonda.

Pagani reworked the suspension and drivetrain as well. Larger dynameter brake discs and stiffened suspension make the car more suitable for track driving. The engine benifited from less a less restrictive exhaust system and dry-sump lubrication, increasing the power to 600 bhp. Modified aerodynamics and optimised gear ratios complete the unique package.

The Pagani Zonda is a famous supercar manufactured in Italy. There have been various models in this series including the C12, C12 S, C12 S 7.3, C12 F and the R Clubsport however this article will be primarily about the C12 S supercar. The production of commenced in the early years of 2001 and ceased in the late years of 2002, with a total of 15 C12 S supercars produced. The design of the frame of this racing car was made by the well-known designer Horacio Pagani's, displaying his creativity of this aerodynamic, sleek designed sports car.

The supercar has distinct lines and elegant external air intakes with a customized pointed nose. The rear spoiler is also designed to reduce aerodynamic pressure with the 'split' design. The cabin is located further forward than most cars seen today. This is mainly because it leaves extra room for the high performance motor located in the interior of the frame. There was much controversy with the position of the side mirrors due to the fear that they might be at an unusually high angle making them unsafe, however it was cleared after extensive testing by authorities.

The engine in this supercar is a V12, 7.0 L AMG 550 PS. This is an extremely efficient and high performance piece of machinery but one downside is that the parts, if faulty are extremely expensive to replace and hard to come across. The air intake system is completely handmade to ensure maximum quality and gives the unit an impressive appearance. The unit has a maximum output of 555 bhp which is far more than the average car owner would need. The appearance of the super vehicle is very sleek and expensive and we can also say this about the motor.

The interior finish of this supercar is very luxurious consisting of materials such as leather, carbon with a satin finish of aluminum and other precious metals. The interior finish is topped off with a surround sound stereo featuring a multi-loading CD changer, a mini computer to display satellite maps of surrounding areas and various outputs for the air conditioning unit. The seat design is something new that the manufacturer has chose to undertake and they are much more comfortable than the previous seats that Pagani has produced.

In conclusion, the Pagani Zonda C12 S is a very luxurious sports car, made by a famous and well known producer with the aim to provide excellent interior and exterior design and a powerful engine made by Mercedes. For this price range you would not go wrong purchasing this sports car over other models by different car manufactures. Because this supercar is not mass produced, it ensures maximum quality with many aspects of the car handmade and assembled. By just looking at a picture of this sports car you can notice just how good-looking and expensive it looks and it would greatly affect the status symbol of an individual.
