2009 Marangoni Alfa Romeo Mito M430

Auto Car | 2009 Marangoni Alfa Romeo Mito M430 | The M430 is the striking new 2009 demo car for Marangoni Car Tyre, the division of the Marangoni Group that manufactures and markets car tyres, all strictly “made in Italy”. It will be exhibited for the first time in the world at the upcoming Essen Motor Show, to be held in Germany from 27 November to 7 December 2008, in hall 5, stand 128, hosted by Oxigin Wheels.

Following the success of the 2008 Marangoni TRC Fiat 500, another Italian show car will be used to confirm Marangoni’s ongoing tuning interests. Once again Marangoni are the first to exhibit a uniquely designed and tuned example of a newly released Italian car. The project has been completed in a seemingly impossibly timeframe, coming soon after the Italian release of the Alfa Mito on 12 September.

Starting from a 1.4 litre turbo petrol model, the M430 is a complete reworking of the car, with considerable changes to the bodywork, engine, interior, braking system and trim. The tuning project was again handled by the Florence-based TRC Italia, and for this truly sporting interpretation, Marangoni decided to develop a limited series of its ultra high performance Mythos tyres, using a special red compound, in perfect symbiosis with the new look of the vehicle.

Throughout 2008 and 2009 the M430 will be on display at many leading European tuning shows, with a schedule of more than 10 events.

Body and design

It’s not hard to guess the origin of the M430 design, as the name itself explains its source of inspiration. The front bumper has two wide air grills, designed to direct air flow to the uprated braking system. On the sides are wide vents that highlight the extremely sporting design of the vehicle. At the rear, the original bumper has been removed and replaced with a stunning new carbon fibre diffuser made by MB, featuring evident air extractors, again in 430 style.Carbon fibre was also used to make the rings around the lights and the spoiler on the rear window. Racy skirting completes the vehicle’s body kit, perfectly unifying the two axles. In addition, special LSD hinges have been adopted, with added modifications, meaning the doors now open wing-style, just like on the most prestigious supercars.

Power kit

The extensively tuned engine now delivers 220 HP, a good 65 HP more than the original version, with powerful delivery even at low revs. The power kit designed by Mariani also includes a new bearing-mounted rotary turbine, downpipe complete with metal catalyst, rear stainless steel exhaust with four pipes, and air filtering with special carbon air box.

Interior

The new look of the interior stands out immediately. The seats, roof lining, carpets and uprights have been covered with special open-work fabrics, enhanced by Luna supercar with a tricolore motif that accentuates the Italianness of the design. The gear knob, pedals, footrest and handbrake lever have been made by Isotta with Swarovski stone inserts to create a “regal” yet at the same time sporty feel.

Other features

The M430 has been lowered by around 4 cm using KW threaded strut housings that allow height adjustment. The already powerful standard braking system has been replaced with innovative Tarox B33 10-pot calipers and composite 330×26 diameter brake discs, for absolute yet controllable braking power.

Wheels

The spectacular red Marangoni Mythos tyres, in the 225/35R18 Y size, developed by adding special coloured pigments to the compound, are fitted on Oxigin Crystal black 8×18 wheels. The result is a captivating red-black combination that makes the already stunning M430 look even sportier.

2010 Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent

Auto Car | 2010 Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent | The 2010 Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent was designed to be the most stylish vehicle on the road. It was specially garnishes with black leather upholstery and carbon fiber trim and it was painted in titanium opaque. The Brera also comes with a high-end audio system and an automatic dual zone climate control system. Power is said to be pushing 185 hp. There are only 900 units of the special edition vehicle that will be sold in Europe, Japan and Australia.

The automaker's UK arm is launching the new special edition Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent together with two new turbocharged powering options available for both the Brera coupe and the Spider convertible models. The first new engine is the 1750 TBi 4-cylinder petrol that develops 200 HP and 320 Nm of torque while the second is the 2.0-litre JTDM diesel that delivers 170 HP and 360 Nm of peak torque. The Alfa Romeo Brera price starts at 25,205 GBP while the 1750 TBi Spider has been prices at 27,205 GBP.

On the turbodiesel equipped version pricing starts at 24,995 GBP for the coupe and reaches 26,995 GBP for the 2.0-litre JTDM convertible. As far as the Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent the car includes features like the new matt balck titanium body finish, 18 inclj alloy wheels painted black, red brake calipers and an aluminium fuel cap that resembles the one of the Alfa 8C.

Inside the Alfa Romeo Brera Italia Independent customers will enjoy the leather wrapped seats, steering wheel and gear knob, the various carbon fiber inserts, sports dials, aluminium pedals and the new radio/navigation system that comes with the Blue&Me technology.

Alfa Romeos are stylish things, and the brand possesses a somewhat exotic image among mass market manufacturers. Perhaps it’s the Italian heritage, or the usually sexy design of its cars, but many of us do have a craving for these Alfas, even if our wallets disapprove. And to further cement its high fashion image, Alfa has collaborated with fashion house Italia Independent for a special edition Brera that’s limited to 900 units.

According to the maker of “personal belongings” the Italia Independent concept is “an eye for detail and the continuous search for quality with a distinctive style”. Our detailed eye spots out “titanium” paint, 18-inch turbine-style dark alloys and red brake calipers hiding inside, plus an aluminum fuel cap with the Alfa logo. The cabin is full of carbonfibre, black leather and red stitching, and a smattering of Italia Independent logos. Not sure if this is nicer than the red leather with gunmetal grey trim Brera that you can view at Auto ConneXion showrooms.

The standard Brera with 2.2 JTS engine sold in Malaysia is poor value for money at RM308,888, and it doesn’t need the VW Scirocco (more power, faster, more space) to point that out – Alfa’s own 159 saloon, which shares the coupe’s engine, Selespeed gearbox and nice dash design goes for RM188,888! I prefer the saloon too in terms of driving – it has better ride quality and feels more light footed.

Alfa Romeo Giulietta Geneva 2010

Auto Car | Alfa Romeo Giulietta Geneva 2010 | Alfa Romeo have released images of its 147 successor ahead of the car’s debut at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show in March. Alfa enthusiasts will be delighted to see the return of Giulietta nameplate, and it certainly evokes a lot more cred than 149 might have done.

Built on an all new platform the Giulietta goes on sale before mid-2010 in Europe with Australian sales to follow towards the end of 2010.

Overall, I think the new styling looks quite good. Although, based on these pics it looks like style may have come at the expense of interior space.

There will be five engines on offer at launch, all meeting Euro 5 emissions targets. Four of the five engines will be turbo charged. There’ll be a pair of petrol powerplants, a 90kW 1.4 TB and a 130kW 1.4 TB MultiAir, and a pair of diesel turbos, an 80kW 1.6 JTDM and a 130kW 2.0 JTDM. The range will be headed by a 175kW 1750 TBi, featuring an exclusive Quadrifoglio Verde specification.

Alfa Romeo have designed the car to achieve a 5 star Euro NCAP rating and the Giulietta will come equipped with features such as VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control), DST (Dynamic Steering Torque), Q2 electronic differential and Alfa DNA selector.

What do you reckon, are you looking forward to seeing more of this car at Geneva, or do you think it’s styling is a bit over the top?

Alfa Romeo Giulietta: world preview

The new Alfa Romeo Giulietta will be presented to the world at the forthcoming Geneva Car Show. Sales of the new model will start in spring and the car be available in Australia in the fourth quarter of 2010. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is expected to give new impetus to the brand in one of Europe’s most important segments.

In the Centenary year, the name is a tribute to an automobile myth and Alfa Romeo. The Giulietta is a car that, in the fifties, caught the imagination of generations of car enthusiasts, making the dream of owning an Alfa Romeo and enjoying the high level of comfort and technical excellence accessible for the first time.

The Alfa Romeo Style Centre has produced a new Giulietta, a sports car capable of expressing both great agility on the most demanding routes and providing comfort on everyday roads.

A new architecture for enhancing road hold and agility in total comfort and safety
Meet the new Alfa Romeo, a compact created to appeal to customers who seek top dynamic performance and those who are looking for a distinctive style and a high level of comfort.

The Giulietta has brand-new architecture, designed to meet the expectations of the most demanding customers in terms of road holding, agility and safety. Its excellent dynamic performance and great comfort are the result of refined technical solutions implemented in the suspensions, a next-generation steering system, a rigid yet light structure made of aluminium and high-strength steel, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies.

Alfa DNA, a device which customises behaviour of the car according to different driving styles and road conditions, can adapt the new Alfa Romeo to the needs of each individual driver to enhance driving pleasure and comfort. The new architecture of the Alfa Giulietta was designed to integrate and enhance all onboard systems. Three set-ups (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) are available and can be selected using the Alfa DNA. This device - standard across the entire range of the new model - modifies the operating parameters of the engine, of the steering system, and of the Q2 electronic differential, in addition to fine-tuning the stability control system (VDC) behavioural logics.

Italian style sportiness and comfort
Combining sportiness and elegance, the Alfa Giulietta is the result of Alfa Romeo’s new direction in style and technology - an approach that started with the 8C Competizione supercar and which recalls the brand’s glorious past while projecting its traditional values of technology and emotion into the future.

The front end is developed around a “trilobe shape” and features a brand-new interpretation of the classic Alfa badge, set into the front bumper and suspended between the two air intakes. The entire car develops from here to combine a lively personality with an elegant form. The front headlamps implement LED technology and a Daytime Running Lights (DRL) function for maximum active safety.

The profile of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is rich in personality and confers the appearance of an agile, solid model. This is above all the result of the coupé shaped side windows, which highlight dynamic and streamlined shape, and of the concealed rear handles. The side ribbing adds to the car’s slender look, while the taut lines closing in on the rear end accentuate the “wedge” shape of the body.

The style of the rear end, like that of the front and the side, is strong and consolidates the impression of a muscular car, firmly gripped to the road. Like the headlamps, the rear light clusters implement LED technology, to the advantage of preventive safety, in addition to good looks.

The interior design is taut and light: a horizontally developed dashboard with aluminium element accents and rocker controls which explicitly recall the 8C Competizione. Painstaking attention to detail and the high quality of the materials used are the most advanced expression of Italian style.

Finally, the dimensions of the new car give a compact, dynamic shape combined with excellent roominess and a capacious boot (350 litres): the car is 4.35 metres long, 1.46 metre high and 1.80 metres wide with a wheelbase of 2.63 metres.

Innovative engines for exciting, environmentally friendly driving
The Alfa Romeo Giulietta guarantees top level performance and next-generation technology in terms of technical solutions, performance and environmental friendliness. Four Turbo engines will be available at launch, all Euro 5 compliant and fitted with a standard “Start&Stop” system for reducing consumption and emissions: two petrol engines (1.4TB - 120 HP and 1.4TB MultiAir - 170 HP) and two diesel engines (1.6 JTDM - 105 HP and 2.0 JTDM - 170 HP, both belonging to the second generation of JTDM engines). Finally, the range is completed with the lively 1750 TBi - 235 HP with an exclusive Quadrifoglio Verde configuration.

Safety and dynamic behaviour at the top of the segment
Alfa Romeo Giulietta was designed to obtain the maximum Euro NCAP rating in order to offer total protection to driver and passengers. Furthermore, suspension, steering and braking system are designed to be perfectly balanced even during extreme manoeuvres.

Finally, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta is fitted with the most sophisticated electronic devices for dynamic control as standard: VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control), DST (Dynamic Steering Torque), Q2 electronic differential and Alfa DNA selector. All these systems guarantee driving safety, dynamism and performance in the best Alfa Romeo tradition.

2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo MultiAir Quadrifoglio Verde

Auto Car | 2010 Alfa Romeo MiTo MultiAir Quadrifoglio Verde | IT WILL make its international debut at the Frankfurt motor show on September 15, but the most formidable version of Alfa Romeo’s recently released MiTo hatchback range – the curiously dubbed MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde (or four-leafed clover) – will not arrive in Australia for at least 12 months.

The flagship of the Fiat Punto-based MiTo range will be powered by a 125kW version of the Italian maker’s new 1.4-litre turbocharged ‘MultiAir’ four-cylinder petrol engine, which is claimed to return average (freeway) fuel consumption of just 4.8L/100km and CO2 emissions of 139g/km.

Alfa says the new MiTo QV, which will follow the lower-output MultiAir models on sale in Europe but is likely to be the only MultiAir-engined MiTo released here (in late 2010), delivers a class-leading weight-to-power ratio of 6.7kg/hp.

That’s almost 10 per cent up on the 114kW 1.4 TBi engine that powers the current MiTo Sport ($37,490), which was launched in Australia in July alongside the entry-level 88kW 1.4 TBi MiTo ($31,490), with the MiTo QV’s specific power output of 91kW per litre claimed to be the highest ever recorded by an Alfa model.

But the flagship MiTo’s circa-seven-second 0-100km/h acceleration time and low emissions are only part of the appeal of the Quadrifoglio Verde – a specification name that Alfa says has always been synonymous with heritage, racing and victory, but one under which it now aims to combine sportiness with environmental friendliness.

The MiTo QV rides on 17-inch satin titanium-finished wheels with a design based on the hoops of the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione supercar, with a similar colour gracing the car’s headlight frames and wing mirrors. Further, Alfa says “the dark finish of the headlight parabolas is achieved by a brand new metal sublimation technology”.

Unique Quadrifoglio interior features include an all-black colour scheme to eliminate reflections and distractions, a new sports seat fabric and white-backlit instruments.

More significantly, the MiTo QV’s chassis promises to be as advanced and responsive as its engine, by comprising a continuously adaptive electronic damping system developed with Magneti Marelli.

Alfa says the Dynamic Suspension system always ensures maximum ride quality while better restricting bodyroll and pitch, thereby improving both comfort and agility in all circumstances.

Three settings will be available – normal, all-weather and dynamic – with each damping control strategy linked under the ‘Alfa DNA’ system that comprises four electronically controlled shock absorbers, five accelerometric sensors, a control unit and an interface with the other on-board electronic systems.

Normal is claimed to combine response with the highest level of comfort, while in all-weather mode "the safety features are enhanced by continual interaction between the Vehicle Dynamic Control stability system, the steering and the suspension”.

The most performance-focussed setting (dynamic) is claimed to transform the MiTo QV into a true sportscar, and was developed at both the historic Balocco test track in Italy and at Germany’s Nurburgring.

Rounding out the Quadrifoglio ’s enhanced mechanical package is a new all-Italian six-speed manual transmission that Alfa says delivers short-throw shifts and uniform activation pressures, eliminates noise and vibration, and improves fuel economy by reducing friction and optimising gear ratios.

Developed by FPT and manufactured at the Verrone factory in Italy, the ‘next-generation’ C635 gearbox is said to be “the first result of a design philosophy aimed at improving driveability, consumption levels and production flexibility

The star of the show is the Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde - an exclusive version with a powerful 170 hp 1.4 MultiAir TBi which will be brought to market after the launch of the other MultiAir engines.

Once a symbol of some of Alfa Romeo's sportiest cars, the “Quadrifoglio Verde” (four-leaf clover) now represents a new kind of sportiness that combines maximum driving pleasure with improved environmental qualities. This is shown by its outstanding weight/power ratio (6.7 kg/hp), ensuring top-class agility, and an exceptional category-leading specific power of 124 hp/litre.

In addition, as far as the typical reduction in emissions and fuel consumption of downsizing is concerned, the 170 hp 1.4 MultiAir TBi records 139 g/km of CO2 and 4.8 l/100 km in the extra-urban cycle: figures you might expect from an economy car rather than a compact sports car that goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just over seven seconds.

2010 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Spider

Auto Car | 2010 Pininfarina Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta Spider | For those who still like to dream in a car. For those looking for a mixture of vanity, entertainment, and the pleasure of life in the open air. For those who love icons as the greatest expression of the age we live in. For those who want their cars to be an uncommon sensory experience in terms of both style and driving, without being obsessed by performance. For those who want to be excited by a dynamic, sporty car that transmits the exclusiveness and refinement typical of an Alfa Romeo spider designed by Pininfarina.

For all of them, we present the 2uettottanta.

2uettottanta: a name that evokes the legendary Duetto, but also the years of activity at Pininfarina, which launches the celebrations for its 80th anniversary with this concept car. And it has decided to do so with a type of car that is by definition, the work of Pininfarina: an Alfa Romeo spider. A very Italian product, which has become an export brand, representing the inexhaustible talent that the whole world associates with Italy.

The 2uettottanta reflects Pininfarina’s determination to look to the future with optimism following tradition, restating its excellence in design and its acknowledged capacity for aesthetic and technological innovation. It is a concept that represents an innovative approach, projected into the third millennium, to a topic that is firmly rooted in Pininfarina history, the 2-seater spider. And like the best Alfa Romeo sports cars to come from Pininfarina’s pencil, the 2uettottanta exalts the driving experience and concentrates on the excitement of being at the wheel of an open car with a great aesthetic personality. It is a car that can make people dream and excites even after many years. The icon of a lifestyle that harks back to a lively, tumultuous period. Like the Duetto of the Sixties, which helped to establish a trend based on the themes of rebellion and escape, thanks to the film “The Graduate”.

The 2uettottanta is also a tribute to Alfa Romeo, which celebrates its centenary in 2010: the alliance between Alfa Romeo and Pininfarina is one of the most significant and durable in the history of the car, one of men and of passion, of design and cutting-edge technical solutions, which has generated an inestimable number of good-looking, innovative cars with plenty of temperament. With a predilection for sports cars and convertibles. The aim is to replicate all this with the 2uettottanta. So a clean, elegant line was chosen for this "simple 2-seater", which is proposed with a 1750 cc turbo engine positioned longitudinally, an obvious reference to the “1750 Veloce” of 1968, one of the many versions derived from the famous “Osso di Seppia” (Cuttlefish). With its red bodywork, inspired by the typical Alfa Romeo paintwork, the 2uettottanta is 1797 mm wide, 4212.6 mm long, 1280 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2500 mm.

The pleasure of driving and feeling in harmony with nature is transformed into light, sleek, refined volumes, and shapes that seem to slip through the air easily. This generates the theme of this concept: the expression of a single volume, which is some way from the ground and suspended. The 2uettottanta almost seems to lift up from the ground “going further”. It is an optical effect achieved thanks to a line that crosses the whole car horizontally. An uninterrupted sign applied to dynamic, sporty proportions – typical of Alfa Romeo spiders – accentuated by the configuration of the passenger compartment, which is shifted significantly to the rear. The force of the design lies in its exaltation of simplicity, which does not need to show its muscles but concentrates purely on agility and harmony.

The front end of the 2uettottanta underlines its true Alfa Romeo character. The design is simple, with a central line that runs smoothly along the nose of the car, while the execution of the surfaces is more sophisticated. At the centre, in full view, and anything but a purely decorative element, is the Alfa Romeo shield, which seems to emerge from the heart of the car and to stretch outwards, in Pininfarina’s futuristic, three-dimensional approach. The shield is made of aluminium and incorporates floating horizontal flaps. On either side are the two triangular lateral air intakes. The two elements impressed on the imposing bonnet create a natural link between the logo and the large windscreen, which has been designed as a ring in hand-beaten aluminium that emerges from the body of the car without interrupting its flow. The front headlights, which adopt the latest LED technologies, are embedded under the line that gives the whole car its character. A strip of carbon in the lower part of the front acts as an air splitter, channelling the air to the rear end of the car.

The side view of the car, where the theme of the single volume is repeated, highlights the flowing line of the whole, with the shapes merging naturally. The horizontal line “cut” into the sides gives a sense of great dynamism; it starts from the front wheelarch and extends back to the rear wheel. Like an athlete, for a car, being slim also means achieving aerodynamic efficiency. Pininfarina has always strived for natural shapes that can convey efficiency and respect of the environment, an approach confirmed by its great commitment to the theme of eco-sustainable mobility. The 2uettottanta is in perfect harmony with nature, becoming the formal expression of a response to the needs of our day: it is an arrow that flies through the wind almost without encountering resistance.

Smooth, essential, soft surfaces even at the rear, which echoes the front, albeit with slightly more emphasis on the muscles. The design combines stylistic simplicity with a strong character in the volumes and proportions, with details designed to underline the car’s dynamic, light personality. The two bumps seem to emerge from the volume, becoming floating wings that create the roll-over bars behind the seats. At either end, these bars generate an appendix designed to hold the seat belts. Even at the rear the light clusters are slender and embedded under the line that defines the whole section.

Great attention went into the design of the interior. The result is a spacious, comfortable passenger compartment, conceived with light, dynamic volumes, which envelop the occupants in a strong, reassuring embrace. The shapes are sewn into the leather, incorporating the touch controls: in its functions, the 2uettottanta is faithful to its vocation as a car designed to be a delight to drive. The facia extends fluidly to the sides merging into the doorway as the natural continuation of the volume of the car, thus creating a perfect symbiosis between exterior and interior. The dashboard has a driver-oriented configuration with an innovative approach to the classical circular Alfa Romeo “tubes” that contain the instruments. The tunnel contains the Alfa DNA gear selector in an ergonomic position; this varies the set-up of the car in three modes, Dynamic, Normal and All Weather, adapting the behaviour of the various systems on the vehicle (engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, etc.) to the demands of the driver and the different driving conditions. The tunnel runs through the passenger compartment and it gives structure to the chassis, revealing the carbon elements: the choice of this material reflects Pininfarina’s constant research into alternative materials that can make vehicles lighter, reducing consumption and emissions. Another strong element of the interior is the steering wheel, which is a modern interpretation of the Duetto’s perforated three-spoke wheel, with the addition of a shift paddle for sequential control of the dual-clutch gearbox. An enjoyable drive and comfort are also guaranteed by the anatomical sporty seats. All the interior of the car “floats”: the ventilation ducts are positioned between the passenger compartment and the hull.

The size and design of the tyres, which were created specifically for the 2uettottanta in collaboration with Dunlop, accentuate the impression of strong character and force given by the car. The tyres are of the low profile type, right on the extreme edges of the plane view: designed by Pininfarina to incorporate the innovative technologies developed by Dunlop, their graphics reflect those of the car. Their aerodynamic shape and very smooth lateral profile, guarantee better roadholding and less resistance to air, thus reducing consumption. The rims are treated in aluminium in harmony with the rest of the car, and are a free interpretation of the classic five-circle Alfa Romeo pattern, revealing the high performance carbo-ceramic Alfa Romeo brakes by Brembo.

The 2uettottanta is not a pure styling exercise, but also a project and research: the goal is to grasp the spirit of the spider in the configuration, the proportions and the conception of the car as well as in its stylistic imprint. This working method is part of Pininfarina’s genes. For this project, the Pininfarina creative team were given carte blanche to express the values inherent in the Alfa spider “by Pininfarina”, the values that are deemed to have made the Giulietta Spider or the Duetto all-time classics. To achieve this result, the car was given a particular set-up, with a low centre of gravity and a passenger compartment that is very exposed so as not to isolate the occupants from the surrounding environment. The result is to bring the road “nearer” to the eyes of the driver and to increase the sense of dynamism even at low speed.

What is the 2uettottanta effect? Desire. Whoever sees it “must” possess it, drive it, enjoy it. Because the 2uettottanta is not an unattainable dream. Nor does the 2uettottanta only want to impress at first glance, but to achieve a beauty that does not strive solely for immediate confirmation, but gradually reveals all its values and transfers them to the future, making the style eternal. As it did in the case of the Duetto, which continues to be celebrated as an icon of design after more than 40 years.

The TZ3 Corsa is a race car, honouring 100 years of races and victories across the whole 20th century. It celebrates men and machines of the Alfa Romeo Zagato common tradition: Scuderia Ferrari of the 20’s and 30’s, Alfa Corse of the 40’s and 50’s, Autodelta of the 60’s and 70’s up to the latest Scuderia Zagato of the 80’s and 90’s.

Recalling these racing emotions, the TZ3 Corsa is based on a mono shell carbon fibre tubular chassis, coupled with a tubular frame and a lightweight aluminium body. It boasts Technical Partners such as OMP and Pirelli.

Following Zagato’s gentlemen-driver heritage, the car has been commissioned by the Alfa Romeo Zagato collector Martin Kapp, during the Zandvoort Tribute to Zagato event, where more than 130 Alfa Romeo Zagatos were celebrating the 90th Anniversary of the brand.

Martin Kapp owns, among his Alfa Romeo Collection: SZ coda tonda and SZ coda tronca, TZ and TZ2, Junior Z and S.Z.. Tribute to the 100th anniversary of Alfa Romeo’s Racing Heritage:

Alfa Romeo and Zagato achieved the best results since the beginnings thanks to the Mille Miglia victories of the 1500 6C, the 1750 GS and the 8C 2300 Zagato of the Scuderia Ferrari. Already in 1933 an official advert of the Alfa Romeo 8C proclaimed: “The Spider that, with the trio Alfa Romeo - Scuderia Ferrari - Carrozzeria Zagato, brought countless victories in the homeland and abroad for the honour of Italy.”

Even the grandiose Quadrifoglio Verde was placed on the bodies of Zagatos of the Alfa Corse
team numerous times. Among the most glorious moments is the victory of the Formula 1 championship of Juan Manuel Fangio, aboard his Alfa Romeo 159 bodied by Zagato, as well as the victorious Alfa Romeo 3000 CM bodied in 3 samples by Zagato.

During the 60’s, the list of absolute victories of the Giulia TZ and TZ2 by Zagato for the Autodelta of Ing. Carlo Chiti, was never-ending. Some of the most memorable victories included the 1964 12 hours of Sebring, the Targa Florio, the Nurburgring, and the 24 hours of Le Mans.

The single-brand Alfa Romeo S.Z. championship emphasized the Alfa Romeo ES30’s (Experimental SportsCar 3000) technical and dynamic abilities. The S.Z. delivered, and continues to so today, constant performance and driving pleasure to the Gentlemen drivers of the Alfa Zagato team, across the most important racetracks in Europe.
