Auto Car | Fiat 500 Blackjack Limited Edition | Fiat is launching another Limited Edition 500 – the Fiat 500 Blackjack – featuring a matt vinyl wrap with gloss highlights and red calipers
Anything MINI can do, Fiat can do too with the Fiat 500. So – in the best MINI school of marketing style – yet another Fiat 500 is to hit the road – this time the Fiat 500 Blackjack.
The Fiat 500 Blackjack is a cash-in on that flavour of the moment – matt wrap (we are assuming it’s a wrap) – to give a matt black 500, which actually looks rather good to our eyes. To accentuate the matt blackness the Blackjack also gets gloss black highlights and red brake callipers.
The 500 Blackjack will come with a choice of three petrol engines – the new 900cc twin air, the 1.2 litre with 69bhp or the 1.4 litre with 100bhp. If you must burn oil you can opt for the 95bhp 1.3 litre Multijet.
The 500 Blackjack is a good looking limited edition from Fiat and will sell for the simple reason that the Fiat 500 is a cracking little car, as we confirmed when we recently reviewed the Fiat 500 1.3 MultiJet Sport.
But we do have our doubts about how well the matt black wrap will stand up to city car use. Vinyl wraps tend to mark quite easily; not a problem if it’s on a cossetted supercar, but not as easy to keep looking good on a car like the 500 Blackjack.
The press release says the 500 Blackjack will be sold in ‘Key European Markets’. We’re waiting to hear if that includes the UK. But what we do know is that in Italy the Blackjack looks like it can cost as much as the Abarth 500.
