Limited Edition Skoda Octavia vRS launched

Cars Mania Blog
Auto Car | Limited Edition Skoda Octavia vRS launched | Skoda has packaged up a limited edition of the Octavia vRS to tempt buyers to buy, and to be honest it’s not a bad deal. But then, nor is the regular vRS.

The older you are, the harder it is to get over the ‘Skoda Skips’ of the past. But even for the middle-aged, Skoda is now perceived more as a re-badged, cheaper alternative to a VW than a left-over relic of communism. So that’s a step in the right direction for Skoda.

And the Octavia has taken that perception closer to what Skodas really are – quality, value for money cars that are actually better in some regards than the offerings from parent VW.

The Octavia vRS gets a tweaked version of VW’s common-rail, direct injection 2.0 litre diesel, which is a pretty good performer, with a 0-60 of 8.4 seconds. It’s economical too, with relatively low emissions, has a decent ride and handles pretty well. Yes, it has a dose of torque-steer, and it can run a bit wide when pushed, but if you’re after a sporty, economical, roomy mid-size car, you can do an awful lot worse than the Octavi vRS.

So what do you get for your extra £750 if you buy this ‘Limited Edition’. Well, you get bigger alloys (18″), decent leather seats, a touch-screen Bolero radio and the usual limited edition tweaks and badges. Skoda says it would could cost you £1900 to spec up the standard car to limited edition spec, so you’re well in pocket.

Only 500 Limited Edition Skoda vRS cars are being made, so they should go quickly. Skoda’s VAT free promotion applies as well, so you could get a decent deal.
