Auto Car | 2011 Chevrolet Cruze ECO | Presents Chevrolet Cruze features Eco to offer a variety of mechanical and aerodynamic modifications to get more miles per gallon. The Cruze Eco is due to go on sale in late 2010 in the USA. There is no firm date for a European launch, but early to mid 2011 seems likely.
Some efforts have been pursued by Chevrolet Cruze Eco to achieve fuel-efficient cars. Power comes from a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine. The only performance claims made so far are 0-60mph in ‘about ten seconds’ for the manual model and a second less for the automatic. So-called ‘Highway’ fuel economy in the US quoted at around 48mpg.
Thanks to lightweight 17-inch alloy wheels carrying low-rolling resistance tyres. The six-speed manual version also gets a final drive ratio that is optimised for economy. The lower front grille features a moveable blind while the upper grille is partially blanked off. The front air damn is deeper, the under body is smoothed out and there is a tail spoiler. The Eco also rides on lowered suspension to help it slip easily through the air.
The new Cruze generally liked by everyone since the Los Angeles Motor Show last year. At the current New York International Auto Show, Chevrolet will release 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco, the official pictures has also released recently, it is estimated that the price should not be too high.
2011 Chevrolet Cruze Eco used aerodynamics package, fuel economy has increased, achieved the goals of low power consumption and environmental protection, it can be said it is a good and inexpensive car. The car is powered by a 1.4L Ecotec turbocharged engine, maximum output power of 103 KW (138 hp), peak torque of 200Nm. Match a six-speed manual transmission, 0-100 KM / H acceleration time of 9 seconds, 100 km highway fuel consumption of just 5.9L (40mpg). Also can match a six-speed automatic transmission, but the 0-100 KM / H acceleration time will be increased to 10 seconds
