Auto Car | 2011 Ferrari F450 | Ferrari is expected to introduce the F450 at the Frankfurt Motor Show this September. The F450 will be the replacement for the F430 which was originally introduced to the public in 2004. The new F450 sports car is expected to go on sale in the US in the middle of 2010.
Details are sketchy from Ferrari about the 2011 F450. However, it is widely accepted that the Italian manufacturer will replace the current 4.3 liter V8 engine that is in the F430 with a larger 4.5 liter V8. This is what will drive the name change from F430 to F450. The larger engine is expected to have a minimum of 500 horsepower.
Ferrari, as with most manufacturers, is planning on increasing the fuel efficiency and lowering the carbon emissions of the new model. Although not what Ferrari is known for, it does need to keep with the market trends and at least attempt to move in this direction.
Again, details are limited, but rumors are that Ferrari will take some of the technology from the 2007 Mille Chile eco-concept for the new sports car. The manufacturer is said to be working on a weight reduction program for the new F450. Also the new engine will likely be direct-injection and the new dual-clutch transmission, called the California, with its smoother shifting patterns should help Ferrari achieve its goals with the 2011 F450.
Detailed styling cannot be determined from the spy photos that are out, but it does look like it will have larger fenders and air scoops to increase the breathing of that powerful 4.5 liter V8. There is also a new exhausted system mounted centrally. The F450 also has a wider trackwidth than the outgoing model. The remaining exterior styling details will likely be similar to the outgoing model.

Ferrari will not completely change its corporate color from Red to Green with the introduction of the 2011 Ferrari 450. However, it will be interesting to see how Ferrari incorporates some of the ecological-friendly technology into the new model while delivering more power to keep itself ahead of the likes of Lamborghini.
Ferraris 360/430 etc series gains a new addition to the family with the F450. And by far, the F450 is the best addition yet.
