2008 Brabus smart fortwo Xclusive

Cars Mania Blog
Auto Car | 2008 Brabus smart fortwo Xclusive | Brabus will sell you a variety of 600-plus-hp twin-turbo V-12s wrapped in virtually any Mercedes-Benz product, including the G-class military-grade SUV and the Rocket, a CLS that's electronically limited to 217 mph.
Or Brabus will sell you an itty-bitty Smart Fortwo packing a whopping 98 horsepower that will go nowhere near 217 mph unless you shoot it out of a big cannon, which its shape suggests it might be good for. No, the Brabus Smart Fortwo will instead be limited to 96 mph, a loosening of the leash to the tune of 6 mph over the base Fortwo. Zero-to-60 mph should take about 9.9 seconds, the time it takes a Brabus Rocket to reach double that speed.
Inside and out, the Brabus Fortwo is changed little from the original Smart design. Wider rear wheel arches that house unique wheels, a sport exhaust—to really let that 1.0-liter inline three-cylinder rip—foglights, and a 15mm-lower suspension are it for the exterior; a specialized shift knob, hand-brake lever, and pedals round out the interior alterations.
The interior of the BRABUS Xclusive additionally features heated leather seats and a contrasting silver seam. A modified three-spoke leather sports steering wheel with steering wheel gearshift and BRABUS velour floor mats are also included in the standard spec. The BRABUS logo – the double "B" - is embossed in the headrest.
The instrument panel, door trim and door pockets have a leather effect. Contrast components such as the caps of the steering column control stalks or the speedometer rim shine in silver. Head/thorax airbags, otherwise available as an option, are a standard feature in this model.

The exterior paintwork of the BRABUS Xclusive further underlines the exclusiveness. It is exclusively available in the combinations (tridion safety cell/bodypanels) silver/silver or black/black.

Buyers opting for the Brabus Fortwo Xclusive get an additional front spoiler and tinted headlights, and they will sit in heated leather seats amid a tiny sea—perhaps pond is a better word—of fake leather trim on the door panels and dash, protected by the standard head-and-thorax side-impact airbags that are an option on lesser Fortwos. Checking the Xclusive box on that order sheet will limit color choices to all black or all silver, instead of the Fortwo's usual body-panel and exoskeleton two-tone paint.
Like the base Smart Fortwo, these Brabus Smarts will probably make their way stateside shortly after appearing in Europe this fall. Pricing will be announced this summer.
