Auto Car | 2011 Renault Wind | Presenting new roadster Renault Wind the French automaker tries to get back the lost. The first official Renault Wind pictures show how many ambitions the new model has. Models like Peugeot 208 CC and Mitsubishi Colt Cabrio will get the strong rival in the nearest future.
Basing on the same platform as Renault Twingo hatchback, the cabrio version will be 23 centimeters longer and its unique roof with record speed folding has an unbroken construction, that is fully-hidden in luggage space of two-seater roadster Renault Wind. It’s interesting, that its trunk has 270 litter and it doesn’t depend of the roof is folded or not. The same construction is used in Americana from Ferrari. Why the company gave the new body-modification of Renault Twingo separate name Wind – is probably a marketing step course. That is how they wanted to position the car between small models class and level higher.
Renault Wind, a coupé-roadster, will be unveiled by Renault at Geneva Motor show. Renault Wind is a two-seater coupé-roadster of 3.83 metres in length which features a highly innovative way of opening up. With its novel electric roof that pivots open in just 12 seconds, Renault Wind brings a completely different take on a car for drivers who enjoy wind-in-the-hair motoring. Renault Wind is aimed at motorists who lust after a car that is not only distinctive and compact, but also convertible yet practical enough for everyday use.
Although Wind’s compact dimensions make it a nimble machine in and about town, it is the only car of its class to provide just as much luggage space (270dm3 VDA) whatever the position of the roof. True to Renault's brand signature "Drive the Change", Wind makes passion affordable for everyone.Renault Wind will be unveiled at a press conference on the Renault stand at the Geneva Motor Show at 4:15pm on March 2.
Technical Renault Wind specs won’t differ to much from its hatchback version Renault Twingo. Wind’s engines range will consists of 1.2-litter and 1.6-litter gasoline motors with 100 and 133 horses correspondingly, those both are used in the new Twingo. At last the long-waited concept CC is presented as official version. The model premier will be showed in the next AutoShow in Geneva 2010 soon. When the Renault Wind sales start is unknown. All the details will be announced in about a month.
