Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new latest addition to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class line-up, the all new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class convertible features a classic fabric soft top, the soft top can be opened and closed fully automatically within 20 seconds – even when driving at speeds of up to 25mph. The cabriolet roof is stowed in a special compartment behind the rear panel.

If the roof is to remain closed, the cover can be slid rearwards, in which case the trunk capacity is increased by 3.17 cu. ft. to 13.8 cu. ft. A through-loading feature is included as standard for the new Cabriolet, as is EASY-ENTRY – a manually operated entry and exit aid for the rear passengers.
The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet features include on-demand activation of the steering and fuel pumps, the use of tires with low rolling resistance and an alternator control system which takes account of the current driving situation and the vehicle’s electrical power requirements, plus the crucial factor of outstanding aerodynamics. Mercedes officially unveiled the redesigned E-Class Cabrio at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last week. It’s based on the award-winning E-Class Coupe and combines exy styling with a retractable canvas roof that was pecially designed to provide “one of the quietest interiors in the segment for four-seater premium cabriolets with a fabric roof.” Should you choose to lower the roof, you’ll be happy to find the E-Class Cabrio has been outfitted with AIRSCARF (a neck-level heating system) and the new AIRCAP system. Essentially a windshield-mounted air deflector (which can extend 2.4 inches), the AIRCAP system redirects the air flow above the interior. This results in a nearly draft free environment, which allows for reduced interior noise levels.
Mechanical enhancements include a new twin-scroll turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six (dubbed the N55) instead of the usual 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six. It boasts 300 hp and 300 lb-ft torque and allows the 335i Coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.3 sec; 5.5 seconds with the automatic. Both models have a limited top speed of 130 mph, but can achieve 150 mph with the optional Sport Package. The 2011 3-Series will go on sale in the United States and Europe this spring.
