2008 Nissan Altima Coupe

Cars Mania Blog
Auto Car | 2008 Nissan Altima Coupe | New to the 2008 Nissan Altima line-up is the available Couple body style. The Couple is slightly similar to the Sedan counterpart, but it offers some distinctive exterior features. The height and length of the Coupe are less than the Sedan; the Sedans dimensions have also decreased from the previous generations. This smaller exterior design allows the vehicle to be aerodynamic and take further advantage of the engine you decide to go for.
The 2008 Altima Coupe comes standard with a 2.5-liter I-4 engine, capable of producing 175-hp. If you desire more muscle a 270-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine is available. The transmission with your chosen engine can be either a six-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission with overdrive and auto-manual. Combined with the sleek design of the Coupe, and you will find yourself driving a responsive and potent piece of equipment.
If you need to transport a larger object, the split rear seatback condenses to provide more room. The cargo and passenger space for such a compact car is surprising. No need to worry about safety with this smaller car either; the Coupe comes standard with six standard airbags. Also included in the vehicle are an Anti-Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and an optional Electronic Stability System. Not to mention the design includes front and rear crumple zones, as well as a shock-absorbing steering column. It’s no wonder received a 5-star crash rating.
Some of the interior conveniences include an impressive audio system, Dual Zone Automatic Temperature Control and Bluetooth capabilities. Also worth mentioning is the innovative Navigation System, which gives a visual display of various options; you can see traffic, what is behind you (as seen from the rear-view camera) and more on the monitor display screen.
Putting soul into the new Coupe is a pair of Nissan stablemates that have undergone some further refinement for '08. The base powerplant is a DOHC, 16-valve four-banger displacing 2.5 litres and developing 175 horsepower @ 5,600 rpm and 180 pound-feet of torque @ 3,900 rpm. That exceeds the ratings for the I-4's powering the Solara and the Accord coupes.
The same power advantage applies to the optional V6 engine as well. It displaces 3.5 litres and dispenses 270 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 258 pound-feet of torque @ 4,400 rpm. Unlike its competitors though, both Altima engines are mated to six-speed manual gearboxes or automatic, Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT). With cautious optimism, I was eager to sample Nissan's CVT, which they espouse to be highly sophisticated.

  1. The above Altima is looking like one cool Nissan product. As Nissan added 3.5liter V-6 engine to this Altima, technically this model became more awesome to drive.
