2005 Nissan Sport Concept

Cars Mania Blog
Auto Car | 2005 Nissan Sport Concept | When the Nissan Sport Concept, first made its debut at the New York International Auto Show in 2005, skeptics said that it would never make the road as a production car. The 2005 model was a continuation in a series of three small and nippy cars meant for the “youth market” Its predecessors, both concept vehicles, the Nissan Actic and Nissan AZEAL, never made it and as yet the 2005 Sport Concept appears to be hurtling in the same direction.

On Nissan’s stand at the New York show, this dramatically styled and dynamically engineered four seater, three doored hatchback certainly caught the eye. Obviously designed under a concept to produce a car within a realistic price bracket for the upwardly mobile hi-tech orientated young people of the 21st century, the sports concept was packing a lot of power under its hood.

The design team that put together the 2005 Nissan Sport Concept succeeded in combining geometrical shapes and forms that have a mechanical feel. By doing so they created almost an aura of speed and energy. Nowhere in the car is this more felt than in the form and color given to the car’s front and rear fenders forming a dramatic contrast with the car’s pure white body. No less dramatic is the sport concept’s roofline, and its large rear spoiler. To add further dramatic effect, Nissan also attached large spoilers to the front, sills to the sides, and large 20-inch six-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and tires. All these accessories combined to give the car an impression that it has just been driven of the set of a video game. As if the car needed it, more effect was added by the Sport Concept’s utilization of headlights as well as rear combination light carrying multi-layered reflectors.

The 2005 sport concept’s interior is no less spectacular with the focus being on its bucket seats for the driver and front seat passenger. Upholstered in Wolf Gray leather and featuring double-layered pearl suede inserts, these extra deep, body-wrapping seats continue the “video game” them , especially with their integrated four point seat belts. As you would expect, the instrument panel contained a variety of digital gauges and a tachometer all set within a hi-tech center cluster. To complete the picture, a three-spoke steering wheel and short staff hand brake as well as instrument bezels door pulls, centre stack edging vent surrounds and foot pedals are lined with a matt chrome effect metal. All in place and in line with the theme. A theme that was just enough to give the Sport concept interior a high-tech appearance without going too far overboard.

The Sport Concept definitely embodied much of the excitement the brand needs in the small car segment, and for that matter, much of the excitement the small car segment needs on the whole if it plans on luring in the youth of North America.
While not too much emphasis was placed on the car’s mechanical capabilities, it was estimated that should the car go into production, it would have a two and a half liter 200 horse power engine. Front wheel drive engine and a six speed manual gearbox.

  1. What an attractive Nissan model!
Its nice interior with cool look must be suitable for my small family.
But why this Nissan is named as a sporty model as it does not provide any sporty look.
