New features also include dark-tinted projection-beam headlamps and larger exterior mirrors for better rearward visibility. LED indicator repeaters in an arrow design ensure more safety. Even more striking than before are the new 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a multi-spoke design. Painted in titanium grey and with a high-sheen star, these provide interesting contrasts when viewed from the side. 

 

With a width of 7.5 and 8.5 inches respectively, the AMG light-alloy wheels are fitted with size 225/40 (front) and 245/35 (rear) tyres. New, high-sheen 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels in a twin-spoke design are also available in the same sizes on request. Outstanding deceleration values are ensured by the AMG high-performance braking system with internally ventilated brake discs all-round. The front brakes have perforated discs of size 345 x 30 mm; 300 x 22 mm discs are fitted at the rear.

Our GLKWidestar grabs attention with its stunning appearance, while at the same time, offering a high degree of everyday usability in all conditions.” And thus, it is fair to say that, among the four tuning competitors, the GLKWidestar represents the “European” solution. The SUV was conceived by development engineers on the basis of automotive pragmatism that stands by classic Mercedes-Benz characteristics. The Widestar is an interpretation of the GLKas an on-road machine with corner-hugging agility that also pays tribute to the high levels of refinement associated with Mercedes vehicles.

That doesn’t mean that the BRABUS GLK is merely a “good boy” among the SEMA stars. Far from it – one look is all it takes to capture the muscular stance of the Widestar bodyshell, which has been broadened by 50mm, incorporating beautifully integrated flared wheel arches that carry through to the front of the vehicle with distinctive air intake fins. Customised front and rear bumpers, LED daytime running lights, side skirts, a roof spoiler with LED lights (position lights) and all-new LED lighting units above the front windshield complete the reworked bodyshell. A custom paint process adds an unparalleled depth of lustre to the black paint finish. “It was an interesting challenge,” comments Ulrich Gauffrés, Head of Research and Development at BRABUS, “to bring even more fascination to the already distinctive GLK. Our Widestar underscores the characteristic edge of the original GLK-Class design.”

The flared wheel arches are home to 21 inch wheels clad in 295/30 ZR 21 rubber. Together with the BRABUS chassis kit that lowers ride height by 30 mm, and a high-performance brake system, the Widestar demonstrates the true on-road potential of the GLK-Class. The necessary propulsion is provided courtesy of a reworked V6 diesel engine based on the 320 BlueTEC unit with ground-breaking AdBlue technology from other models currently available in the USA. Thanks to the ECOPowerXtra tuning kit, the Widestar engine generates 190 kW/258 hp and delivers 610 Nm of torque. All of this comes together to provide outstanding performance figures. The dash from 0-100 km/h is over in 6.9 seconds and the Widestar powers on to reach a top speed of 240 km/h. Despite the increase in performance, the Widestar remains well within the most stringent emissions standards set in Europe (EU5) and the U.S.(BIN 5 / ULEV). At an average of 8.4 litres per 100 km (NEDC), fuel consumption is also extremely modest*.

The completely reworked interior of the BRABUS GLK Widestar celebrates the very highest levels of automotive interior design. Artisans at the BRABUS workshop have clad the cabin with a total of 50 square metres of soft, semi-aniline leather. The luxurious all-leather trim also includes diagonal stitching on the seating, door panels and the entire vehicle floor – all in cognac. To avoid glare in the windshield and side windows, the upper surfaces of the dashboard and door panels are finished in black leather. The alcantara upholstery of the roof lining is also finished in black, with piano black wood trim, a sports steering wheel and aluminium sports pedals completing the overall impact of the interior. Should rear seat passengers require additional entertainment, the multimedia system mounted in the front seat backs provides relief with a DVD player and 7-inch monitors.

Interior, bodyshell and technology come together in the BRABUS GLKWidestar to create a refined overall image that is as impressive on the show stand in Las Vegasas it is in everyday operation. Auto Car | Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS Eau Rouge Dark | The automobile manufacturer Carlsson who is specialised on Mercedes Benz, extends its co-operation with the leather lifestyle brand Etienne Aigner AG and will exhibit the world premiere of the Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS “Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition at the Zürich Auto Show. Produced in small series, the luxury coupé is available with either a V12 Bi-Turbo with 705 hp or a second power level with 756 hp and 1,150 Nm.

The newly designed car front dominates the exceptional appearance. Both the front skirt with a front spoiler made of solid carbon as well as the car paint which renders appealing contrasts in two colours are eye-catchers. The special line Dark Edition of Carlsson Aigner CK65 RS “Eau Rouge“ which is produced in small series and limited to only ten cars, is exclusively available in the double-coloured combination obsidian black metallic with Himalaya-gray. Shaded Bi-Xenon headlights with cone-shaped lights and the radiator grill with the jumping Carlsson horse perfect the front appearance.

Moreover, the sides are dominated by the three-part forged rims in 21”. The glazed finished surface of the light alloy rims manufactured in forged technology, offers an absolutely masterful appearance.
The electrically adjustable sport seats with multi-contour function and seat heating have been upholstered with high-class leather according to the philosophy of the Leather Lifestyle Brand Aigner. Superb craftsmanship characterises the newly created interior. With the ergonomically shaped Carlsson sport steering wheel in a Leather/Alcantara-combination, the driver can control the Carlsson Aigner in a very pleasing way. Carlsson sport aluminium pedal pads and illuminated door sill protectors, as well as numerous other optical refinements guide the way into a world full of luxurious elegance.

The wooden appliqués were adjusted to the colour of the car paint and all visible plastic parts were covered with noble Aigner-Leather. The Aigner-A, embossed in the front headrests and the reverse side of the front seats, confirm the exclusive origin. Moreover,
the complete car interior, including handholds, sun shields and rear screen frame has been covered with Aigner-Alcantara.

The Carlsson sport exhaust system renders more output and an especially powerful sound. The rear section of the Carlsson Aigner CK65 is dominated by four end pipes in Carlsson design which impress by their sportive, earthy sound. In comparison to the serial exhaust system, the exhaust back pressure and pipe guide are optimised. Therewith, Carlsson achieves an improved torque and a higher performance. The new Carlson aerodynamics kit once again skilfully underlines the elegant silhouette of the basis model. But the Carlsson Aigner CK65 “Eau Rouge“ Dark Edition has its own identity and an own profile, both in the exterior and also in the interior. The front spoilers and rear skirt lip are designed in the typical Carlsson Diffuser Look and the striking rear spoiler also eases handling the luxury coupe at high speeds. The exclusive Carlsson aerodynamics parts are made of high-class and ultra-light solid carbon, a material which is mainly used in the Formula 1.
