Auto Car | Rinspeed sQuba | As an effort to spread the JDM perspective found on this blog we’ve been growing. Some of the growth is intentional while some of it just sheer luck that people like our style.
First thanks goes to the folks at Autoblog.com who have picked up on not one, but four of my posts during the past 3 weeks. Countless other sites have also shared the love by linking in to this blog’s content which they enjoyed. Thank you!
Secondly we’ve recently partnered up with cardomain.com for syndication of some of the blog’s highlights. I don’t think members of cardomain.com know what they’re in for, but The Real JDM invasion is in full effect! The cardomain.com blog section will get roughly 2-3 posts a week from The Real JDM. Here’s the introduction post of The Real JDM on cardomain.com: http://blog.cardomain.com/blog/2008/04/introducing-our.html

Magazines? It is looking like perhaps there will be a resurrection of The Real JDM in print form. A deal is pending, if it happens I’ll announce the news here first.
In short, because of all of the love that I’ve been getting from you all this project continues on strong. I’m always listening to any suggestions you have, so chime in if you have things you want to hear more or less of.

A big thanks also goes out to Patrick Callahan who has been more active lately in contributing content that I simply would never think of. He has to be one of the best I’ve ever seen at scouring hardcore car content and putting new perspectives into eloquent words. His crazy finds make a great addition to the blog and hopefully you all enjoy it as much as I do.
Its all about new perspectives, new knowledge and new reasons to get excited about the car tuning world! We’ll continue to bring it, if you like it spread the word and help us reach new people.
Magazines, websites, other media - feel free to contact me if you’re interested in working with us to further educate the world about The Real JDM.
So earlier I promised everyone that I’d make the blog a little more personal. While true, I have slacked on that a bit, to my credit I’ve been bringing the heavy JDM content steadily. This is time to switch gears for a second. With me or not here I go…
The one thing that perhaps I love as much and know as much (if not more) about than JDM tuning is undeground hiphop. Since way before it was socially acceptable to be a white kid listing to hiphop, I’ve been a fiend for quality lyricism and dope beats….nearly 20 years now.
The one thing that has consistently made me embarrassed about my love for hiphop is its mainstream media image which is deservedly bad in my opinion. While on one hand I love underground hiphop as much as I love JDM, on the other hand I hate mainstream hiphop (like Soulja Boy) about as much as I hate mainstream “spocom” (like APC). The fact of the matter is I’m a purist towards what I love and I don’t play along nicely when mainstream media trashes the integrity/message and goes for the quick buck on unsuspecting listeners/viewers. So to those that know me it shouldnt come as a surprise that I’d rather listen to an amplified looped clip of nails on a chalkboard than most of the garbage hiphop on the radio.
What I particularly love about hiphop is when lyrics either educate the listener or challenge the listener, classic albums like Nas’ Illmatic do a bit of both. Better yet though is when hiphop acts as a positive catalyst towards social change. Political hiphop is I feel a great way of using the strengths of the art form to unite the world in a useful way.
Political hiphop although still thought of as the antiquated example of Public Enemy, repeatedly surfaces year after year to make people not just think but unite and take action. Tonight I came across a new video which I think works on a number of levels. The rapper/producer 6th Sense is solid, although not mind blowing enough on his own to carry my first hiphop post on this blog. I chose this example because of it’s timing, its positive message and one particular line which resonates with me
“Did you ever think you’d see a white rapper endorse a black President”
