Auto Car | Shelby Supercars The Tuatara Revealed | Shelby Supercars brand new contender in the supercar class - The Tuatara. The American company is a former holder of the world's fastest production car title - it was his 1183 HP SSC Ultimate Aero TT with a top speed of 257 mph recorded. The 258 mph Bugatti Veyron Super Sport refilled, but Shelby is back for revenge.
The SSC Ultimate Aero is an American-built mid-engine supercar by Shelby SuperCars. The higher-performance limited production version previously held the Guinness Book of World Records record for being the fastest production car in the world (succeeded by the 2010 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport),with a recorded speed of 412.29 km/h (256.19 mph).
 

Styled by current design boss of Saab, Jason Castriota, the Tuatara use a 1331 hp twin-turbo 7.0-liter V8 engine, sending power to the rear wheels via a seven-speed manual or a seven-speed automated manual gearbox . Performance is not yet released, but the goal is clear - the Super Sport 258 mph top speed exceed.
Tuatara The name actually refers to a kind of reptile, from New Zealand. It has probably the fastest evolving molecular structure in nature, something the company owner, Jarod Shelby, feels it shares with its carbon-fiber body supercar.
