A new plug-in hybrid concept designed by both a French automaker and a fashion magazine was unveiled yesterday. The GQbyCitroen was built with the goal of being streamlined without being overly aggressive.
“Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption," said Citroen designer Mark Lloyd in a press release. "It is understated rather than in-your-face and sleek rather than too macho."
The car uses a four-cylinder direct-injection 1.6-liter petrol engine capable of getting the car from 0-60mph in about 4.5 seconds. As a hybrid, emissions were kept to 80 grams of CO2 per 100 kilometers, though no specifics about the hybrid drive were revealed. A limiter sets the top speed at 155mph (249 km/h).
Other than being highly stylized on the outside, the car has an interior designed by tailors on London's famed Savile Row. The design is claimed to be simple, but it looks more muddled and complicated.GQ by Citroen was introduced online and in the April issue of GQ. Neither company revealed why the car was not simultaneously shown off at the Geneva Motor Show.
