Citroen 2CV Concept Design by David Portela 2008

Auto Car | Citroen 2CV Concept Design by David Portela 2008 |cars are designed with tin models like the MINI, personalization will be a big part of the appeal 2CV, with a contrasting body color trim panel chair and full-length sunroof option.citroen car while the other will be positioned above the Citroen C3 range, and will carry a premium price.

I've never been the biggest fan of the original, however it's always nice to see a classic being reborn.Unfortunately, this is what he had come up with;
The original was never a beautiful car, but thats just something else...Luckily, Auto Express also had an article on a new 2CV, which was much more promising.Quote:
Here's proof that Citroen is set to come out of its shell when it comes to car design - because the 'tin snail' is back! These pictures show how a successor to the 2CV is shaping up. Boasting a thoroughly modern interpretation of the classic design, it has its eyes on the lucrative family car market.Based on insider information, our pictures show what you have to look forward to. Taking over where the Evoque concept car of 2005 left off (Issue 865) the shape is instantly recognisable and couldn't be confused with anything else.
As Fiat has done with the 500 and VW with the Beetle, Citroen has followed the current trend for reinventing classic models. By cashing in on the charm of the original 2CV, the French firm is set to launch into uncharted territory - going up against prestige models such as BMW's MINI. With the same curved bonnet, slab sides and covered rear wheels, it looks just like the original 2CV, which first appeared in 1948.Trademark details such as the slatted bonnet and double chevron grille remain intact. But with flush-fitting windows and faired-in lights, the shape has been given a modern update. It promises to be extremely eco-friendly, too. With car firms ever more concerned about their impact on the environment, the 2CV will be a showcase for Citroen's green technology. It's likely to be made from plastic body panels, and with power coming from a hybrid diesel engine (see below), it should boast low fuel consumption and emissions.

As with the exterior, the cabin will draw on its famous predecessor with a minimalist look. A large, thin-rimmed steering wheel dominates the interior, while the fixed central hub contains controls for the stereo. There will also be a retro speedometer, and as with the original car, the gearlever will be mounted in the centre of the dashboard. However, while the 2CV was designed to be cheap and cheerful, the newcomer will feature lots of hi-tech kit as standard, including sat-nav and connectivity for the latest handheld gadgets. As with the MINI, personalisation will be a big part of the 2CV's appeal, with contrasting body panel colours, seat trims and the option of a full-length sunroof. It's possible the Citroen could feature panoramic glass, as well as a removable canvas top.Under the skin, the 2CV is likely to use platform architecture from the C3 supermini and C4 hatch, featuring a front-wheel-drive layout and a comfortable driving experience.

To see the car take shape in game and then for real has been a truly unique experience as our work normally stays in the digital world. I just hope I can get behind the wheel of GTbyCITRON and drive it on a real race track!
Kazanori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc and creator of Gran Turismo

Performance first and foremost
GTbyCITRON is geared to the world of motor racing, with its dynamic styling, sculpted lines and sharp graphics. The rear end is oversized, made exaggeratedly long in order to create an effect of retinal persistence. The idea is to make the concept car even faster visually. The white-to-grey gradation on the body side further underlines this impression of continuous movement.
Top-level drivingThe cabin of GTbyCITRON, designed to seat two adults, expresses the grand touring vision behind this show-car. The on-board ambience allies premium, extensively worked materials with a more high-tech effect for the driving position. The layout of the low driving position was dictated by driving pleasure. The aim is for the driver to be able to concentrate on the road, assisted by a head-up display clearly displaying driving information.

RACING SPIRIT BY CITRON
- Power and flowing lines
The design of GTbyCITRON reflects a quest for optimal aerodynamic design. The show-car is a vehicle of flowing, taut lines, stretched to the extreme. The cleanly drawn sides, ribbed at the top, and the pearlescent shade of the bodywork enhance the vehicle's sleekly muscled looks. The determined look of the front end is enhanced by wide air intakes and clear-cut horizontal headlamps. The headlamps feature penetrating blue LEDs in order to light the road effectively and keep rivals at a respectful distance! The chrome chevrons on the smooth bonnet express the Marque's identity. The carbon rearview mirrors on their finely profiled supports appear to be suspended as if to cleave the air, giving GTbyCITRON an excellent on-road stance. The large wraparound windscreen flows seamlessly into the roof and on into the rear mobile airfoil with its exaggeratedly long shape. The fast-flowing lines create the impression of a car in perpetual movement. The whole body expresses performance and continuous movement.GTbyCITRON also expresses strength and power through generous volumes, (length: 4.960m, 2.080m and height: 1.090m) underlined by strongly marked wheel arches. The diamond-effect 21-inch aluminium wheels enhance the car's sporty personality.
- Exceptional handling
The interior design confirms the vehicle's dynamic and powerful style. The interior of GTbyCITRON, designed to seat a driver and co-driver, expresses the racing spirit of this concept. The on-board ambience allies rich, premium, extensively worked materials with a more high-tech effect for the driving position, inspired by the world of motorsports.Looking beyond the spectacular visual effect, the gullwing opening of the two doors gives GTbyCITRON a level of accessibility rarely seen on this type of vehicle. The driver and co-driver can therefore slip into their seats and get out on the track as quickly as possible. The dark interior of this show-car is a surprise, compared with the light bodywork. Upholstered in black leather with subtle touches of rare materials such as copper and steel, the cabin of GTbyCITRON is distinctly sporty.

Two padded racing seats upholstered in dark leather, each fitted with a four-point harness, enfold the driver and passenger for exceptional driving sensations. Placed low down to highlight the impression of speed, the elegant seats are a perfect fit with the rest of the interior.
The top-stitched leather of the door panels and floor adds to the opulence of the interior. The driving position expresses the spirit of competition. The design was objectively guided by the motivation to win.The dashboard, with its clean uncluttered design, flows into the receding lines of an imposing copper sculpture. The thrusting modern lines of the sculpture become the central tunnel of the vehicle, illustrating the power of GTbyCITRON and appearing to catalyse its strength.Created in a twist of this same copper sculpture, the leather-and-steel steering wheel also reflects the sporting spirit of the cabin. To promote maximum concentration, the driver of GTbyCITRON has a head-up display for driving information. Using red LEDs, this system projects key driving information such as speed and navigation data onto the windscreen in the driver's direct line of vision. The head-up display makes a significant contribution to safety with its direct read-out. Drivers assimilate data more quickly and do not have to look away from the road.
- Aerodynamics optimised to combine performance and driving sensations
Special emphasis was placed on the aerodynamics and flowing design of GTbyCITRON, these being key Citron values. The objective was to enhance the vehicle's dynamics and to create exceptional driving sensations.Looking beyond its taut, dynamic lines, this racing car features innovative equipment such as enlarged air intakes at the front, a flat underside, and a mobile spoiler and air diffuser at the rear. All these features play an active role in reducing lift and above all drag, to pin the car to the ground. With its flowing lines, original architecture and its use in the game of what is potentially the best environmental technology, GTbyCITRON embodies the sporting spirit as seen by Citron and underlines the Marque's ambitions to meet new challenges.

Citroen Hypnos 2008

Auto Car | Citroen Hypnos 2008 | The ambience inside Hypnos is light years away from a conventional motoring experience. The cabin embodies the magical content of the concept car, making each journey an unforgettable sensory adventure. The shimmering interior makes a dramatic and eye-catching break with the deep grey bodywork. Onlookers will marvel at the rainbow hues of the cabin. Using these bright colours in the interior of an executive car interior underlines Citroën's creativity.Using premium materials such as leather and brushed aluminium, the Marque has produced an exceptionally refined cabin that creates a feeling of comfort and confirms the exceptional nature of Hypnos.

The cabin contains four seats positioned on either side of a central helix in a unique configuration that brings to mind DNA and organic life, reflecting Citroën's focus on human values. The long, three-metre wheelbase combined with the original, staggered seat layout gives each passenger an astonishing amount of personal space. Never have the passengers in a vehicle of this size had this much room. Leg room, for example, is practically that of a limousine. In keeping with executive standards of comfort, passengers can customise their own space using the pivoting blades of the central helix, which include a range of controls, such as the air conditioning settings.
The seats are made up of prism-shaped components that can be inflated and deflated to give occupants upper and lower back massages.

Creative interior design
Citroën is committed to making technology more human, accessible and attractive. Giving fitting physical form to this technology and adding new, almost magical, content was one of the main aims when designing Hypnos. The instrument cluster in front of the driver is presented through prisms, like a diamond, with each facet displaying driving information. And like a jewel, the cluster is mounted in a metal setting of premium quality. This cluster is the main feature at the front of the cabin, embracing a touch screen in the middle of the console and encompassing air vents on either side of the dashboard.
Using micro-diodes located inside the air-conditioning duct, the air vents gently diffuse halos of soft light, in a colour that varies with the chosen temperature.

Hypnos also innovates by bringing passengers the benefits of colour therapy. A ceiling-mounted camera films the driver's face and regularly measures anthropometric data. The system compares these measures with pre-recorded data to gauge the driver's state of mind and adjusts the cabin lighting and scented air-freshener fragrance in consequence. Travelling in Hypnos is a remarkable experience in relaxation.Hypnos combines technology with creativity to striking effect with its original onboard clock, designed by the artist Michel Serviteur. Combining advanced technology and sheer poetry, the clock changes colour depending on the light at different times of day. Dispensing with needles and digital read-outs, this dreamlike timepiece emits a succession of rhythmic colour pulses like the breathing of a living being.

HYmotion4 TECHNOLOGY
FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND MOTORING THRILLS
Citroën's active policy of environmental protection has made it one of today's leading manufacturers in this field. The Marque is underlining its position as a pioneering carmaker by fitting Hypnos with an all-new diesel hybrid drivetrain: HYmotion4. This original technology combines dynamic performance with respect for the environment and low fuel consumption
HYmotion4: innovation for the environment
The intelligent design of the Hypnos concept car combines:

• a 200 bhp (147 kW) 2-litre HDi DPFS diesel engine mated to a six-speed electronic gearbox system, with torque of 420 Nm;

• an electric motor located on the rear axle developing 50 bhp for 200 Nm of torque.

Hypnos' diesel hybrid technology is designed to respect the environment. This is particularly true in the city in ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode – an "extended", completely silent all-electric mode with a range of around 3 km at 50 kph – and on roads demanding successive acceleration and deceleration. In this second case, the hybrid architecture limits consumption by using the two forms of energy together.Hypnos is also equipped with high-power Stop & Start technology that cuts out the engine when the car comes to a halt in urban traffic jams or at red lights. This system also powers the electric motor when the vehicle is in 4x4 mode. The 2-litre HDi DPFS diesel engine is extremely efficient on the motorway, cutting fuel consumption by 20% compared with a petrol engine.By controlling fuel consumption and, hence, pollutant emissions, Hypnos boasts combined cycle consumption levels of 4.5 l/100 km for CO2 emissions of 120 g/km.

Citroen DS High Rider Concept 2010

Auto Car | Citroen DS High Rider Concept 2010 | Just 4.26m long, 1.82m wide & 1.48m high, Citroën DS High Rider Concept combines a neat and nimble chassis, for responsive handling, with intelligent design architecture that provides occupants with a generous amount of internal space. Its character is expressed in its unique driving sensations, with a sleek flowing windscreen that soars over the heads of front occupants - hinting at a bright and spacious cabin environment. The apparently continuous glazed area of the side windows connects the A-pillars to the gently sloping roof line of the rear.Without denying the appeal of conventional coupés, Citroën DS High Rider Concept represents a bold and radical vision of the future, combining compact dimensions with generous internal volumes, dynamic performance, sophisticated style and consummate quality.Unlike traditional 4-seater coupés, with their long, low design, the Citroën DS High Rider Concept is compact and muscular.

Citroen created a stir in February 2009 with the announcement of a new line of distinctive products, the DS line. The new line-up reflected one of the facets of what is a true reinvention of the Marque, symbolised in its new tagline, “Créative Technologie”. Rounding out the main CITROËN range, the DS line features products with more radical design choices aimed at customers looking for stand-out styling, architecture, driving feel and refinement.Just one year after this major event, and with the DS3 now on show in CITROËN showrooms, the Marque is taking a new step in the evocation of the DS line with the DS High Rider. The new concept car embodies a contemporary vision of dynamics with compact design as a fundamental value. It opens the way to new vehicle uses, new motoring pleasure, and an innovative technological approach founded on a Full Hybrid 4 drivetrain.

The DS line moves forward into a new universe
With DS High Rider, Citroen is clearly remaining faithful to the philosophy behind the DS line, namely products with bold choices in terms both of styling and architecture.Without reneging on the charms of conventional coupés, CITROEN has discovered new ways of expressing automotive vitality with this new creation – less restrictive and exclusive and more adapted to today’s driving conditions, while boasting a renewed sense of driving pleasure.Unlike regular 4-seater coupés that are long and low-slung, DS High Rider places the emphasis on muscular compact design. The body styling combined with the height of the car underline the compactness of the whole, in turn strengthening the dynamic feel.Behind the wheel, this promise of vitality is delivered in the shape of a unique driving experience based on a blend of the following:
• a windscreen that stretches far back into the roof,
• a passenger-focused interior architecture of the highest standards,
• running gear that benefits from all the Marque’s expertise in driving sensations and standard-setting ride comfort.Citroën has released first details on the striking Citroën DS High Rider Concept that will be unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. It is the second concept associated with Citroën's innovative and distinctively styled DS line.Planted firmly on stylish 19" alloy wheels and beautifully in proportion, Citroën DS High Rider Concept's confident profile is characterised by its high waistline. Its front end is purposeful with gaping air intakes, long incisive headlights and defined ridges along the bonnet.Citroën DS High Rider Concept is an expression of automotive luxury and elegance - exemplified by its glossy golden paintwork and brushed chrome trim that accentuate the car's flowing lines. The roof is covered with a coated textile material - a tactile feature of quality.

Citroën DS High Rider Concept's ability to rise above conventional design constraints is also reflected in its choice of power. Offering an enjoyable driving experience with dynamic on-road performance, Citroën DS High Rider Concept is respectful of the environment with an advanced 'Full Hybrid' diesel drivetrain that combines a refined HDi DPFS engine under the bonnet with an electric motor located on the rear axle. The hybrid platform enables Citroën DS High Rider Concept to combine the fuel efficiency and power of an HDi diesel engine with the ecological benefits of a new generation electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle). Under certain conditions, both engines combine to deliver additional power with additional torque transmitted to the rear wheels.

citroen revolte concept 2009

Auto Car | citroen revolte concept 2009 | With its forceful lines and compact dimensions, REVOLTE could simply content itself with being a conventional small urban vehicle. Living up to its name, however, REVOLTE has set its sights higher. This concept car takes a highly contemporary approach. It shares some of the characteristics of executive vehicles but, at the same time, it transgresses the codes of the luxury world as we know them to include references that are far removed from those usually associated with cars.Far more than just a small, functional vehicle, REVOLTE is a high-spirited performer. Its character is illustrated by its size (3.68 m long, 1.73 m wide and 1.35 m tall), and also by its bodywork which shuns the strict, austere codes of conventional luxury to drape itself in an intense and radiant shade of violent.
A low-set vehicle sitting squarely on its four wheels, REVOLTE makes light work of urban driving. An impression confirmed by its proportions. With its strongly marked wheel arches, curving bonnet, and sculpted sides matching the line of the roof, REVOLTE is sleekly muscled and ready to pounce.

The rear-hinged doors provide easy access to the cabin, revealing a multicoloured interior that resembles a box of make-up. This unusual idea of associating bright colours with luxury styling reflects Citroën's bold creativity. Like the Hypnos concept car before it, REVOLTE reflects efforts to modernise the traditional notions of luxury.
The main materials featured in the cabin are: woven black leather, thick crimson velvet and gleaming aluminium. Out go conventional materials such as wood, and conventional colours. The onboard ambience of REVOLTE aims for a bold but luxurious feel.REVOLTE also dares a three-seater cabin design, designed to resemble a lounge with seats similar to those found in home furnishings.
The passenger area includes a meridian sofa of contemporary design whose flowing lines cover the entire rear area of REVOLTE as well as the space usually reserved for the front passenger. The passenger sitting in this last space can stretch out his or her legs and enjoy the sensations offered by the cosy, luxurious ambience.
It is also possible to install a rearward-facing childseat.
REVOLTE thus boasts an architecture never before seen on this type of vehicle, with original and distinctive forms.
REVOLTE: intelligent technology in action

REVOLTE's approach to innovation reflects its standpoint on luxury. The two are clearly indissociable. It is difficult to see whether the luxury of the vehicle inspired its high-tech content or if the technology is a medium for the luxurious design. REVOLTE immediately subjugates onlookers. Inside, technology and luxury form an ideal match, as illustrated by the following:- the tactile screen of REVOLTE is encased in a crystal beam. The superbly crafted deep red crystals literally project the tactile screen into the cabin for an eloquent and original effect. This is not their only function, since they also serve to recycle air on board REVOLTE, like a respiratory system;- chic and elegant, the rear bench of REVOLTE is not only a brilliant demonstration of style. It also houses the concept car's electric batteries. This clever stowage solution improves the look of the cabin as a whole;- on the outside, the bonnet of the car is covered in photovoltaic cells carrying out the electric functions linked to onboard comfort, including when the vehicle is stationary. This makes it unnecessary to use the resources of the electric batteries;

- at the front of REVOLTE, the observer's eye is drawn to a curved glass shape underlining the generous lines of the grille. The backlit translucent bottom of the glass brings out the chevrons to original effect, subtly identifying the concept car as a Citroën vehicle. The powertrain of REVOLTE also shares the concept car philosophy, in terms of technology, sophistication and ecology.
REVOLTE, a modern activist
The powertrain of REVOLTE shatters the view traditionally associating "small" with "basic". The contemporary, sophisticated character of REVOLTE is also reflected in its powertrain, which has the future clearly in its sights.Striking a distinctive note in the automotive industry's ongoing quest for "all-electric" solutions, REVOLTE features a solution that is both exciting and credible: a rechargeable hybrid drivetrain.

Auto Car | Citroen DS3 Racing 2010 | For those who may not have been aware of the Citroen has celebrated many victories in the World Rally Championship, most of the DS3 has been modified for higher performance Unfortunately, this is one of those delicious engine continues from the American coast, but you can take a closer look at our gallery of live shots from the Geneva show floor (which debuted with Survolt and the concept of High Rider DS) with click-clicking on the thumbnails below . the engineers' modified and optimized "powertrain components, despite what has been modified and optimized parts have not been disclosed. Racing Citroen also mapped ECU, tuned exhaust and installing a new turbocharger.

Of course, the engineers at Citroen Racing didn't stop at the engine. The stock steering has been replaced with a more precise steering rack modified for the DS3 Racing's new tires. Stiffer springs, which lower the car half-an-inch, were added along with revised front and rear dampers built to handle the extra power. The car's front and rear tracks have also been widened by just over an inch. All of these changes were made in the name of grip.

Equally impressive as the car's ability to get up and go is the DS3 Racing's enhanced stopping power. Citroen Racing also revised the ESP to better complement the car's sportier handling and has several levels of interference depending on how the driver sets it.The exterior of the DS3 Racing is done in a special livery featuring "DS3," "Citroen Racing," and checkered flag graphics on the roof, the rear wheel arches, under the side mirrors, and next to the fuel filler cap. Citroen Lacoste Concept 2010

Auto Car | Citroen Lacoste Concept 2010 | have come together in board technology also strikes a note kidding, underscores the paradox of design expertise and lightweight nada.Keanggunan from Lacoste Citroën drivetrain powered by a choice. Instead of looking for enhanced driving sensations through the flat out speed, Concept Citroën Lacoste chose 3-cylinder gasoline engine with a lot of performance on tap to power the vehicle of its size and weight. With its light timbre, powerplant flexible, economical and ecologically very suitable for natural car "back to the important".

With its strong presence and joie de vivre, the high-tech and innovative Citroën Lacoste makes car travel an all-new experience and an incomparable adventure for the senses.Pure, simple and laid-back, while remaining sophisticated, the Citroën Lacoste takes another step forward towards the car of the future - a vehicle aimed at putting an end to the "always more" mantra that often reigns in the automotive industry. The new model also fuels Citroën's thinking of focusing on the essentials to create original cars that are affordable and economical, while losing none of their ambition or motoring passion, notably through premium styling.

HEIGHTENED SENSATIONSSweeping away preconceived ideas on compact cars - with many being supposedly short on character - the new Citroën Lacoste proudly asserts that another way forward is possible.Stylishly minimalist and elegantly laid-back, the Citroën Lacoste instantly attracts with its off-beat sports aesthetic. It features a high waistline; bulging and textured wings; minimum overhangs front and rear; and golf ball-style alloy wheels, placed in the furthest corners of the body. After a longer inspection, it is this car's "open" physique that appeals - promising a fulfilling drive, while expressing a wealth of inventiveness and elegance.Passengers enjoy an open-air experience thanks to the broad cut-outs that replace the front doors and the lack of a hard-top roof. Journeys in the Citroën Lacoste inevitably heighten the senses, much more than in a protective bubble that cuts occupants off from the world. As if these intense sensations weren't enough, the windscreen can also be lowered out of sight, providing a harmonious waistline around the entire cabin, front, back and sides. The elegance of the Citroën Lacoste is underpinned by the choice of drivetrain. Rather than seeking enhanced driving sensations through flat-out speed, the Citroën Lacoste Concept opts for a 3-cylinder petrol engine with plenty of performance on tap to power a vehicle of this size and weight. With its light timbre, the flexible, economical and ecological powerplant is a perfect match for the car's "back to essentials" nature.

The Citroën Lacoste Concept respects the environment, not only by virtue of its engine, but also its design choices. Even with its large wheels, the Citroën Lacoste seems to "embrace" rather than confront nature. This impression takes concrete form in the subtle, undulating shape of the wheels, in an approach that suggests Citroën Lacoste drivers are playing with the elements for more fun.
SPONTANEOUS APPROACH Along with its bright and breezy approach to life, the convertible Citroën Lacoste also features taut, muscular and reassuring lines. Compact and robust (at 3.45m long, 1.80m wide, 1.52m high and with a 2.30m wheelbase), the new model expresses faultless expertise in its styling and design. The car's laid-back personality stems from its purity, as evidenced in the body paint in pearlescent white, which is set off by dark blue design motifs and strips underlining the forms of the vehicle.Cabin access couldn't be easier, since the doors have been replaced by broad cut-outs that are in perfect harmony with the body styling. Access to the rear seats is just as easy, with passengers simply jumping onto the rear bench. For transporting luggage or sports equipment, the rear bench slides handily into the boot. The car can also be fitted with specially designed sports equipment, including tennis racquets, golf clubs, skis, a surfboard or a bike, with owners deciding on the theme of their weekends. At the crossroads of motoring, fashion and sport, the Citroën Lacoste makes a number of references to all three worlds. The cabin contains countless storage areas for enhanced travelling comfort. The compartments are discreetly located under the dashboard and within the two bench seats - with sliding covers that echo the colour of the upholstery. The seats themselves are overstitched in white cotton, with a weave closely resembling that of a polo shirt - an iconic Lacoste design.

Building on this theme, the seatbelt anchorage points have "necklines" like a polo shirt, while the seats are covered in robust, rope-like cotton.Like a wardrobe full of different clothes, accessories and fabrics, the Citroën Lacoste plays with a range of colours and materials. For fun, simplicity and elegance, the emphasis is on bold, traditional colours like white and deep blue. The cabin is then dotted with bright - almost fluorescent - yellow splashes in the storage compartments and on the grab handles, which are finished in soft and tactile rubber, with a tennis ball-like effect. The fun-loving Citroën Lacoste brings familiar objects to mind. Some details make reference to the sporting world of the Lacoste brand. It boasts square relief designs that resemble sections of a tennis net on several parts of its body. The fairing that rises up from the underbody, at both the front and the rear, recalls the print left by a tennis shoe on a clay court.

Citroen Metropolis Concept 2010

Auto Car | Citroen Metropolis Concept 2010 | years ago many of which go into production because, according to the concept that occurs in China many of which mimic the styles of this vehicle
therefore differ for these vehicles in another denan
keungguan one of these vehicles is for the Metropolis Power is provided by the hybrid system, pair, 200kW 375Nm 2.0-liter V6 petrol engine with 41kW electric motor. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transfers power hybrid system to all four wheels.
Elements of the same style will be used for high-level Citroen cars to be developed in China
the designers of the car also wants to build the main line in China .. Metropolis is a symbol of their approach.

According to magazine Autoweek China, Citroen Asia CEO Gregoire Olivier confirmed the concept's production future during an industry conference in Shanghai this week.
"The Metropolis will happen, it will become a real car," Olivier said."The same styling elements will be used for a high-level Citroen car to be developed in China. We want to build up the premier line in China. The Metropolis is emblematic of our approach."Whether Olivier speaks for Citroen's top brass in France is unclear, although his comments echo similar remarks by PSA Peugeot Citroen design boss Pierre Ploue in July.We cannot afford to let Audi, Mercedes and BMW forge into Citroën’s heartland supermini territory without fighting back and pushing into theirs," PSA Peugeot Citroen design chief Pierre Ploue told Britain's Autocar magazine.Selling large luxury cars in Europe is not easy at the moment, but I believe Citroën has a great deal more to bring to the market. A large, characterful DS flagship model - we could call it a DS9 to reference the original DS19 - could do great things for us."
Citroen unveiled the Metropolis concept at this year's Beijing Auto Show. While the French carmaker has yet to reveal any official plans for the big saloon, a production version could potentially rival the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8.

In fact, the Metropolis concept, at around 5300mm, is longer than the long-wheelbase versions of all three of its closest competitors. And, measuring around two metres wide, it carries even more girth than Maybach 62.The first car to be designed at PSA Peugeot Citroen's Shanghai studio, the Metropolis continues themes found across Citroen's latest models and concepts, including the upcoming DS3 and the GQbyCitroen concept.

The Metropolis is built on a stretched version of PSA Peugeot Citroen's Platform 3, which currently underpins the Citroen C6 and Peugeot 407, along with a number of Chinese-market models.Power for the Metropolis is provided by a hybrid system, pairing a 200kW, 375Nm 2.0 litre V6 petrol engine with a 41kW electric motor. A seven-speed dual-clutch transmission transfers the hybrid system's power to all four wheels.

Citroen Survolt Concept is a perfect combination between high fashion and car racing, a unique alliance with the same philosophy and the same cues as Revolte, namely performance, cutting-edge technology and excellence.

Elegantly sporty
Citroen Survolt Concept's cockpit is designed like a floating cell, a glass setting held between chrome-finished roll bars like some magnificent piece of jewellery. The leitmotiv with Citroen Survolt Concept is to transgress the conventions of the luxury world and combine them elegantly with those of the sporting world. The cabin was imagined as a cross between two worlds that by their essence are opposed. This union begets an organic universe, both flowing and technical, from which the driver's station springs forth. The interior as a whole was designed to bring the two occupants comfort and refinement, triggering singular pleasure and an outstanding experience. The car's generous glazed area brings light and a sensation of space, light years from that offered by today's sports cars.Transcendent power and excitement Ahead of its time, Citroen Survolt Concept captivates with its innovative, environment-friendly technology.

Like Revolte, Citroen Survolt Concept is powered by electricity, thus combining sports performance with environmental respect and sustainable development. Still particularly rare in the racing world, this technological solution also embodies a previously unthinkable alliance. But Citroen dares and creates, transgressing conventions to better sublimate them. With irreproachable ecological credentials, the drivetrain blends driving pleasure, thrills, performance and vitality, and all in extreme comfort, since the car is silent in operation.Citroen is proposing a new automotive vision with Citroen Survolt Concept, in a move that is entirely consistent with its 90-year history as an innovative brand focused on creativity and technology.

Dodge Viper RT/10 - Red - Side Angle 1995

Auto Car | Dodge Viper RT/10 - Red - Side Angle 1995 | The main purpose Viper is a vehicle that concentrated on performance above all else. so that there is someone who tested the performance, the vehicle that one is followed by a Viper GTS in 1996, each major section subjected to surveillance by telling effect: GTS with AC weighs nearly 100 pounds less than the 1994 RT/10 without air.viper develop unique components for Viper RT/10 that will withstand incredible pressures associated with high performance driving.RT/10 was followed by a Viper GTS in 1996, brought some improvements to the design, so it will be one of the world's major Grand Touring cars than raw racer.

Viper's 8.0-liter engine is the largest and most powerful available today in an American production sports car. Viper GTS Coupe and RT/10 Roadster share the same 450 horsepower (460 in GT2 and ACR models) engine, suspension, brake system and adjustable pedal set.Air intake is through a cast aluminum manifold with formed tubes, including an integral fuel rail cored in the castings. The dual throttle bodies and bottom-feed high-impedence fuel injectors control fuel flow and mixture. Fuel is fed to the injectors by a sequential multipoint injection system. The engine's forged aluminum pistons are set in cast iron liners. The aluminum cylinder head features a conventional two valves per cylinder with higher-revving dual valve springs. While a natural extension of the classic American V-8 (the small-block LA series, to be exact), a number of the V-10's unusual design features were derived from Formula One engines. Among these features are a closed tappet gallery for better intake manifold seating, and a sophisticated internal water flow system which traces its route outside the engine block, inside the cylinder head, around each cylinder and inside each combustion chamber for increased engine cooling.

Spent combustion gasses travel through a stainless steel tubular exhaust manifold, then pass through unique sill-mounted catalytic converters and exit at the center rear. The six-speed manual transmission was designed to harness Viper's substantial power and match its high-performance expectations. It boasts an electronic reverse lockout feature and first-to-fourth skip-shift for fuel economy. In developing this engine, Team Viper set out to maintain the simple powertrain design of classic high-performance sports cars -- because simplicity leads to durability, reliability and serviceability.Viper's massive V-10 engine is mounted on what is believed to be the stiffest sports car chassis ever built. The engine is cradled by two massive rectangular-tube frame rails, which turn out at the front bulkhead and continue on down the sides. Positioned between the front bulkhead and the back of the cockpit is a central backbone of smaller rectangular tubes. This is attached at the back to a cage or box which encompasses the rear suspension, a 19-gallon fuel tank, a spare tire, the battery and the trunk.

The fully independent front and rear suspensions feature unequal-length upper and lower "A" arms and coil-over springs made of lightweight, yet strong micro-grain alloy steel. High-performance gas-filled shocks minimize aeration. The power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering system features positive on-center feel and a fast 16.7:1 steering ratio for quick and responsive maneuvering. Lock to lock is accomplished in a mere 2.4 turns. Viper's turning circle is 40.5 feet and its maximum turning angle is 28 degrees.Viper's high performance brake system features four-piston front calipers with huge 13" x 1.26" vented rotors up front and 13" x.86 vented rotors at the rear. This system was specially designed to help meet the stated test-track goal of 0-100-0 mph in less than 15 seconds.Truly massive high performance Michelin Pilot Sport tires created for the Viper are instrumental in translating the car's abundant horsepower and torque to more linear terms. These directional tires, 275/35ZR18 front and 335/30ZR18 rear, are a major factor in Viper's 1g lateral acceleration capability. The tires are mounted on forged aluminum wheels with Viper logo centers (BBS forged aluminum wheels with chrome Viper Head center caps for the GT2 and ACR models). Finally, Viper's cooling system consists of a lightweight copper-core radiator and an electronically controlled dual-speed electric fan. A front-mounted engine air-to-oil cooler is also standard.

A new plug-in hybrid concept designed by both a French automaker and a fashion magazine was unveiled yesterday.  The GQbyCitroen was built with the goal of being streamlined without being overly aggressive.

“Where this car works so well with GQ is that it fits with the current attitudes of conspicuous consumption," said Citroen designer Mark Lloyd in a press release.  "It is understated rather than in-your-face and sleek rather than too macho."

The car uses a four-cylinder direct-injection 1.6-liter petrol engine capable of getting the car from 0-60mph in about 4.5 seconds.  As a hybrid, emissions were kept to 80 grams of CO2 per 100 kilometers, though no specifics about the hybrid drive were revealed.  A limiter sets the top speed at 155mph (249 km/h).

Dodge Razor Concept 2002

Auto Car | Dodge Razor Concept 2002 | A sprint to 100 kilometers per hour in about six seconds, top speed greater than 225 kilometers per hour, a six-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive and an engine displacement of 2.4 litres. These specifications can only mean one thing -- less weight, more fun. Unveiled at the 2002 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Dodge Razor concept car embodies the purest of sports coupe design: aspirational, emotional and inspirational. Through efficient design, Dodge Razor cuts right to what is vital for enhanced driving pleasure. The Dodge Razor concept car is a joint effort between the Chrysler Group design studios in Auburn Hills, Michigan, and Carlsbad, California. Dodge Razor's exterior was developed by Akino Tsuchiya and Kevin Verduyn, while its interior was executed by Chris Schuttera and John Sodano. They were inspired by classic European sports cars of the 1960s, which brought a modern minimalist design philosophy to the project. Searching for a name that reflected the car's energy and attitude, the Chrysler Group approached Razor USA to form a licensing partnership with the trendsetting and youthful Razor brand.

"Dodge Razor has a simple shape with every line offering an abundance of emotion and purpose," said Tsuchiya. "Razor's dramatic proportions scream 'I'm bold, I'm powerful, I'm Dodge'. The in-your-face 'Orange Slice' body colour reflects the same attitude." Adds Verduyn: "Working off an all-new platform, we could create extreme proportions. The long hood, high sills, wide body, narrow greenhouse and low centre of gravity all indicate secure, protective performance."To keep the Dodge Razor affordable should it ever reach production, many "off-the-shelf" corporate suspension and underbody components were used. While the six-speed manual transmission was developed in Stuttgart, Germany, the engine is an upgraded version of Chrysler Group's 2.4-litre inline DOHC
four-cylinder, now with a turbocharger and intercooler. The engine develops 187 kW (250 bhp) and 312 Nm (230 lb.-ft.) of torque. Aimed at young driving enthusiasts, the Razor concept was designed with a targeted sticker price of $14,500 within the USA.

Reflecting the design attitude of the popular Razor kick scooter, the design of the Dodge Razor suggests forward motion even when the concept is parked on an auto show turntable. It seems to be leaping ahead with its rear wheels larger than the already massive front wheels. Its signature Dodge crosshair grille sits solidly on the front spoiler, while the exhaust tips are incorporated into the rear air deflector."We are proud to join forces with the Chrysler Group on a car that complements Razor's lineup of youthful, high-tech products," said Carlton Calvin, president of Razor USA LLC. "The Razor philosophy is about revolutionizing classic products with beautiful design and technological innovation, and we are thrilled to see a similar philosophy reflected in the Dodge Razor."True to minimalist form, Dodge Razor's only ornamentations are the chrome bumpers, the racing-style billet-aluminium fuel-filler cap, the classic door handles and mirrors and the jewel-like lamp design. "This project really is about the power of austerity and purity," said Verduyn.

The same holds true for the interior. It offers the necessities for driving, nothing more. No power windows or mirrors, no radio or leather power seats, no frills whatsoever. Dodge Razor offers its two occupants lightweight, competition-style seats, four-point racing harnesses, storage behind their seats and the pure joy of driving. "Razor's interior is like a clean canvas. Our vision is that you would be able to get additional features through MOPAR to paint your ideal driving setting," said interior designer Schuttera. The Dodge Razor's instrument cluster has an integrated tachometer/speedometer with analogue reading of the revs and a digital read-out of the speed. This compact unit is flanked by easy-to-read gauges for temperature/oil pressure and fuel/battery. The interior is finished in body colour and extruded aluminium. "We feel passionate about keeping it simple and honest," said Sodano. "Razor has a focused driver's interior, enhancing the experience of raw power as only a sports car can."Packaged with the most necessary performance tools and functions, including two orange Razor scooters, and providing customers the opportunity to make its interior entirely their own, Dodge Razor offers driving excitement to go.
